I should have let them soak longer too. It was only overnight. Oh well. It went from an LBJ day to a spark plug day. Lol. I'm sure I could get it out but honestly I went in expecting I might have to take it to a shop so no worries.

Yeah I bought 8 of them for this job. Evidently getting it in isn't the problem. Tell that to my girlfriend though. :bounce:

The crap & rust on the threads sticking out is what bound up the bolt in the spindle causing it to snap. If you grip the part sticking out of the spindle, and spin it the opposite way, you'll only encounter the nice clean threads that are in the spindle. Should come right out... in theory.

With some oxy/ace it will come right out.
For freeing up any rusted bolts nothing beats Kroil IMHO. Soak them a couple of days and then with an impact, not a ratchet or wrench, try to get them out.

I haven't even checked them to be honest. They're likely the originals and I've got 204k miles on them and counting. Best to get 'em done methinks. The previous owner did do some off-roading.

I have tried that and the candle wax with OK but not stellar results.
The 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone works well but can be messy.

Psssh over here in the rust-free roads of California half the time I don't even use penetrating oil. I'm spoiled.

Try 50/50 ATF/acetone mixture. Scientifically proven the best bolt penetrate.

I thought I was spoiled too. My 'Runner has spent all of its life in central and southern Oregon. This was more of a user error though. Lol.

I'm going to mix some up and try this stuff. Worse case I don't like it, best case it works. I use 50/50 Kroil/GM Top Engine Cleaner for a firearm cleaning solvent. Works better than 90% of them for a fraction of the cost.

Interesting. I heard that Acetone/ATF doesn't mix well or stay mixed.
I used to use PB blaster and still broke bolts and switched to kroil years back and have yet to break a bolt on either of my jeeps or this 4runner. It loosens everything even seized on u-joint c-clips.
I feel bad for you OP. I just did my LBJ's and my bolts came out just fine and they were pretty rusty.
