'10 Trail vs '17 Pro

As a happy owner of a cement TRDP, I would definitely...keep that 2010 TE. Looks great man!

Love the Pro, but you've built your truck to your specs and it's still got plenty of life left in her. The only argument to trading yours in is if you don't like the on-road ride with your lifted suspension. That was one of the reasons I got rid of my Tundra (Fox coilovers). It was great flying around the desert off road, but it was really rough on-road. The suspension on the Pro is perfect in that regard.

When I purchased the TE it had a spacer lift and I could relate to your ride comments, but after upgrading to full ToyTec BOSS coil system, it was like riding on clouds. I love it.

Definitely. Amazing collection. Currently have a 2014 Streetfighter 848 collecting dust in the garage. Just don’t have much time to ride these days. Was considering the new Mulitstrada 950 for a second bike to collect dust as well. Who knows... I always have the urge.

950 is nice. I'd spend few more bucks and go for 1200S but all depends on your needs. Both are great bikes. Never give up the urge and GET OUT ON THAT BIKE!!! :)
 
Condolences bro.

We just lost our "old man" a couple of months ago and my knee jerk reaction was to get rid of the truck because it kept reminding us of him (and our other pup that we lost last year... tough year lol). Luckily cooler heads prevailed and now I enjoy the memories the truck provides.

I'm glad you decided to keep your 2010, it's a great looking truck. Also that trade in offer feels like a slap in the face and it's not even my rig! Haha.

BTW I must be having an allergic reaction to your thread because my eyes got all misty after you posted dog pics. :noidea:
 
I would keep the 2010. I love the speedometer too. You are able to swap out the front end with the newer headlights/bumper if you want to go that direction.

Keep that beautiful 2010 and if you want to sell it let me know. I looked for one for months before finally buying a 2015 new Trail. The 2010 Trail is maybe the best 4Runner model ever.

TRDPro can't hold a candle to your 2010.

ALL you guys are amazing. Thanks so much for the overwhelming response to keep my TE. I'm already making plans for more mods. And I'm so glad I was able to stir some fond memories of your beloved pets. They are amazing creatures and make their market on our lives and in our hearts FOREVER!!!!

On a side note, I'm gonna upgrade to BFG KO2 and will be selling my TOYO if anyone is local to Seattle area. They seem to be in almost new condition. With 20K miles they barely look broke in. PM me if you're interested. They are 285/70-17 MT

I plan on visiting the Katzkin dealer this weekend for my next plan

Hey man - I own a TRDP cement. The only reason why I went for the Pro is because I literally needed a new vehicle and it matched what I needed. All of the mods you have done on your '10 are exactly what I'd like to do to my Pro over the years. You made the right decision.

went up for sale last night on CL and sold w/in couple hrs. On to BFG KO2 this Saturday. So glad/happy I/we decided to keep the TE. Getting excited more and more every day. Visiting Katzkin instl Saturday for appt. Attached is my goal. Asking TOYOTA HQ if I can use TRD logo as well. Apparently you have to get permission. Thinking TRD Trail on the headrests

I was in the same boat ('12 Silver TE considering '17 Pro), but my motivation was due the excessive underbody rust. This thread has convinced me it is worth keeping the 12 TE and putting in the work to clean up and coat the underbody. Thanks for the help!

I like this idea because it is a Trail (yes I know they're the same), but then again, the TRD does go with the theme of the truck (decal on the sides).. if Toyota allows you, go with the TRD. If not, then you still have the Trail. Win win either way
 
Good decision on keeping your '10 TE. It's hardly broken in. Not only are the early TE's the best looking TEs, but think of the amenities you'd be giving up with a newer 5th gen like those sweet Optitron gauges and Party Mode! Come on man!


And, my condolences in the loss of your pup. I'm sue you enriched each other's life. :(
 
Keep the '10 and get Katzkins (real leather vs. synthetic). You've got time and money into that badass rig and the TRD Pro Suspension isn't that serious so you'd likely end up swapping it out anyway. 60-65 K miles on a 4Runner is nothing in relation to its life.
