10 year 100,000 Warranty

I meant the Toyota Care Plus and VSA from Toyota Financial Services, that's 3rd party?

I believe Toyota Care plus just extends the free toyota care you get with your vehicle (regularly 2 years, 25K) so you "pay" for the free preventative maintenance up front at time of sale... that's all, but I could be wrong... it's not a warranty beyond 3/36-5/60 factory warranty... you're merely prepaying for preventative maintenance (oil changes and tire rotations and roadside assistance requests)

VSA's or Vehicle Service Agreements are insurance policies... they are "backed by toyota" because the service estimates and repairs are provided at the dealership (same as if you bought a CPO used vehicle from a dealer).. its the same thing. the VSA is just what its called when they sell it to you with a new car purchase.... when you buy it with a used car it's called CPO.
Both have deductibles and both are 3rd party (which rely on the factory trained technicians in toyota dealers to provide estimates for repairs and then perform the fix once it's called in and authorized by the 3rd party, hence why there is a deductible... it's insurance, not a warranty) If it was a warranty, you wouldn't have to pay extra for it... above the factory warranty which is rolled up into the invoice price of the vehicle already... anything above invoice is simply profit to a dealer so if you pay MSRP you are a dealers bestest friend for life!

But the deductible is only $100 and if you chose the disappearing deductible option it's waved at the dealership you buy from. The coverage is what people expect from a warranty, when people say "extended warranty" this is what they are talking about, it provides the coverage they want.

If it was me I would get the warranty It cant hurt if something goes wrong. I also have really bad luck with cars. Thats also comeing from someone who has owned a lot of pos chevys. When my mom bought her Rav 4 she got the warranty because she had a lot of bad luch with her chevy and the dodges she had.

I realize this is what people are talking about... I'm not interested in arguing technicalities of wording.

Warranties do not have deductibles, insurance policies do. (By waving the deductible that's merely the insurer saying you've already overpaid enough...)
So it's very clever marketing to get people to buy it. Think about it.... How many people would buy automobile insurance in addition to the insurance that is required by law to buy and operate the vehicle?

An "extended warranty" (that really is an insurance policy) sounds whole lot better and is an much much easier to justify by uneducated buyers... finance guys prey on buyers that aren't well informed to sell these "extended warranty" insurance policies.

For a 2016 pretty much not needed, Read what is covered under the warranty, which more than likely will be major repairs like engine as if you don't know to put oil and ruin it same with transmision, for 2100 save it for a rainy day and at 100,00 take it to the dealer and have them do a full tune up and timing job done,so you can run it another 100,00 miles then be happy to give them the 2100 I have a 2003 151,000 miles and just did the timing belt tensioners and radiator axles and fluids about 1800 .,Im sure the normal wear and tear parts are not covered . Just Upkeep faithfully and it will return many happy miles

But you don't have to have a deductible, and if you do it's only $100. If peace of mind is what you want, this does that. Where extended warranties are sketchy is when they exclude everything, and the plan from Toyota makes clear in the various levels what's included

ok, good luck.

Also, your insurance comment is confusing, lots of people buy more insurance than is required by law

As others have said, its not worth it for these trucks. Mine came with a 3rd party lifetime powertrain warranty for free when purchased new but will probably never need. If you do decide to purchase the warranty, ask for a copy of the contract and read over whats covered.

Do whatever you want... haha

You're the one asking all the questions and I was merely trying to help by providing you with truthful answers.
Apparently though since you're contracting all my answers, you already know all the answers... which makes me wonder why the heck you're asking the questions in the first place...

Do your own research, google it and have a critical thought and formulate your own opinion on what is being sold to you based on fact, not some mental leap of faith that people/ companies in a free enterprise economy aren't in business to make money on undecuated consumers, which is always a sure thing.

I just think that the argument that Toyota Financial services isn't "Toyota" is splitting hairs

Edit: and also I'm really confused by you thinking people only buy the minimum insurance the law requires

Some misinformation above for sure.

I have Platinum Warranty. 75K miles or 96 months, whichever comes first.

It's $0 deductible on all issues.

It was issued by Toyota Financial Services and administered by Toyota Motor Insurance Services. It is not a 3rd party warranty. Period.

I put low mileage on my vehicle and the cost was easily worth it for 8 years of I don't have to worry about anything except normal wear and tear items which I replace myself anyway.

If you are only keeping a vehicle for the duration of the factory warranty and then trading, it's a waste of money. But if you are a long timer like me, the cost is $250 a year. That's not even a blip on my radar.

I'm really losing faith in people's ability to think critically for themselves in our society/country...

Newsflash: TFS and TMIS are indeed separate companies (specifically created to make more profit!), they could claim bankruptcy or get bought out and it wouldn't affect the TMCO mothership in the least.

The truth of what their selling is in the name... Toyota Motor "INSURANCE" Services... (this is who sells you the "extended warranty" insurance...)

TFS simply finances the vehicle purchase... so the fact that people roll this into their loan only increases the profit for these companies..

When this is done, now you're not only paying interest on the vehicle loan to TFS but you're also paying interest on the extended warranty insurance premium that ya just bought. It's like you being happy about getting double charged for something you don't need... ironic in a comical way.

TMCO wouldn't authorize the creation of these subsidiary companies if they were going to lose money people...

These vehicles are designed by engineering, and manufactured to have a useful life that well exceeds 100,000 miles. It's call QDR, look it up and take your blinders off to what is really going on... or don't a just keep following the rest of the sheep, bahahah to throwing you money away... Totally up to you. If throwing your money away gives you peace of mind then I can give you my paypal and I'll accept all the peace of mind you want to send my way.

Back end is where the profits at for a dealer.Dealer cost is approximately between $500 to $700 range for a toyota platinum warranty depending on term use that to negotiate. You should not pay more than $100 over cost IMO

You need to get over yourself fisherman.

You are one of those people who has an opinion. It is right. It is always right and anybody who feels differently is misinformed or dumb or naive.

Go back and read my post and understand what I said or STFU. I am not going to get into an internet battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.

So I was right then, this is about splitting hairs that Toyota Financial Services is not "Toyota"

Also not everyone rolls this into their loan, most people I've seen here are buying it outright. That being said, if you are financing at ~1% (rates I was quoted for my last auto loan) rolling it into your loan doesn't hurt you at all.

Edit: also still really confused by the idea that most people are buying only the minimum insurance required by law

My TE will be paid in full at the end of this month. I plan on keeping it 10 years minimum. It's a no-brainer on the cost of the Platinum warranty.

To wit: I have owned the truck one year, one month. The warranty lasts for 8 years OR 75K miles whichever comes first. With my current mileage (mine has 4800 miles on it) it will have under 40K miles on it which is what really makes the warranty work for me. Whichever comes first will be 8 years.

;-)

I am a business manager ( F&I guy, yes the guy whose job it is to sell you all the warranties in the world and such) but I would definitely get Toyotacare, choose to go with the 8 yr/ 100k if they give you a choice with 0 deductible, I have access to toyotas systems and the absolute dealer cost on the warranty is 1150. this is what you can do if you want a good deal on it. Tell them that you shopped around and you know for a fact that dealer cost is 1150, offer to buy it for 1350, as Toyota does charge the dealer a 200 admin fee that is not included in the dealer cost of the warranty. I would negotiate it, if not call other toyota dealers around town, one of them will be happy to sell you the toyota care for the 1350 as something is better than nothing!

I had an 8k/100 toyota P warranty on my FJ that i paid $699 and saw the dealer cost at $599 huge difference from $1150.

What is your deductible and what parts does it cover? the pricing I provided to you is what I have seen first hand with Toyota's Dealer Services, granted I am an F&I guy for FCA, dont know if pricing has changed since you bought the warranty, because here in Buffalo, thats the upfront price I am aware of! OP, if you can get a deal better than what I saw, please do shop around!
