Hey guys for those of you that have this option. Is it worth it and where is the plug located??

Thanks

It only puts out 100 watts. The engine must be running to use it. The outlet is located in the center console storage box.

We've had our '03 for two years now, and I have yet to use this feature. YMMV, though.

it comes in pretty handy when you forget to charge your digital camera/camcorder before leaving the house! other than that i haven't used it for anything else.

will it run a laptop?

i've used it for my laptop but it was 100% charged. i don't know how it would do with a completely discharged battery though. my laptop charger is 115V x 0.8A
= 92W so it's real close to the 100W rating of the outlet. but 92W is the max power consumption of the charger so i think it'll work just fine as long as nothing else is drawing power from it. you may want to check yours though...

SO I guess in the end it will be anice feature to have just in case...

i think if you're a technophile/gadget freak, then it's a good thing to have! just don't let the woman plug a hair dryer in it! :awais:

lol, I agree.

I too use it to recharge my camera. I simi-perminently keep the charger in the car. There is a pic of it in my thread linked in my sig if you are curious.

Just a quick note, I think it would have made more sense for them to put the outlet at the top of the console instead, so if someone actually puts something in the console, they can still access the plug without taking everything out.

you're right, i don't think i've actually 'seen' what the outlet looks like, only by feel!

I use the 115v for my cellphone. It (Treo 600) doesn't have a replaceable battery, so I like to keep it plugged in as much as possible. It would cheaper to buy a car adapter for the phone than to buy the 115 option, but the 115v socket came standard on my Limited. In my case I use the 12v socket for an XM Roady.

I use mine a lot. To charge the cellphone, my digital cam, camcorder, laptop. It works great, but then the location really sucks. It came standard on my Limited. I guess it is question of econmics, how much will it cost you?

It is a great feature for geeks like myself, who always carry tons of electronics on trips. It is out of sight when you dont need it, but a bit of a pain when you do.

Maybe we can move it.

I hate to change the subject, but my laptop charger says 16 volts. Since I constantly use it at college, it would be a nice feature to have. I never realized how useful it could be. Would that cause any problems and how long and much $ is it to put in(it would be by the stealer)? Everything looks nice, but the wallet ends up taking a beating.

I think you'd be better off getting something like the iGo Juice -- one of the universal power supplies.
