12 Limited to High to get in and out of 20"

I'm sure someone makes shorter springs to lower the vehicle.

You can't keep the other gens from voting so you get a mix of all generations. Based on what I have read and knowing the ages of quite a few regular 5th gen posters I would say most are in the 35-50 range with more over 50 than under 30. That is 5th gen only. Remember there are only about 50 or so that post regularly in this sub forum. When I say regularly I mean about a post a day or two.

I wasn't disagreeing, the 5th gen sub forum does seem to have more mature owners but I account that to the fact that you have to be older with an established job and credit to afford a new vehicle like 2010+ 4Runner.

OK, I have a 2012 limited I just bought and never thought about the ride height. Had an 06 SR5 and it was much easier to get in and out of. My question is this. Is there any stat / measurement that list entry / exit height. The limited has the 20" wheels. I am wondering if going to 17" or 18" wheels will lower the entry height or are the tires just bigger or something. Tried Toyota and Tirerack and could not find this information. The wife and I are in our 60 and not as spry as we use to be. Someone tell me if tires and rims would make the difference or if there is a fairly cheap way to lower the vehicle a minimum of and 1 1/2 inches. I have seen guys getting rid of the 20's, is this the reason. Would SR5 or Trail wheels lower it. Would they look stupid. SR5 wheels with low profile tires maybe. What say you!

I would also agree with the running boards comments, my only thoughts are that you can buy a wide variety of running boards and many of them are retractable allowing you to still have fairly clean lines when the truck is not being used. Just a thought for the topic. Hope it helps. For the record I also have the aches and pains soon to rech 52 yikes.

To the OP: Something that may work is some N-Fab Nerf bars with the spacers that RiDE sells. They make it so you don't have to cut the rocker panels, but also have definitive steps and ridged through holes for grip. I'm not entirely sure if they are lower than OEM running rails but I just threw it out there as food for thought.

Getting in is ok as you step up, getting out she says she can't see the running board to know where to step.

Different running boards may have different profiles that are easier to view... That seems to be a pretty easy change... More so than trying to lower your truck.


Maybe you can use leds that come on when you open door to guide her foot to the step... Kinda like Emergency lighting on airplane. Hmmm if only there was someone here that feels compelled to drive an led...
