Pollen is in FULL force in Atlanta. My black expedition s yellow, silver runner is yellow, and yellow Dakota is, well yellow.
Looks great man, I was stationed in Alabama for a few years, they had these "Love Bugs" that will destroy a car, do you have them in NC?
Correct! It has been posted in the 1st gen section before with my 85.

And I think you're right, people don't give vehicle finishes half the care they need. Good thing clearcoat finishes were ever introduced. Any of you old timers like me remember how paints used to fade when everything was single stage? Remember what silvers and golds would do!?! Black is a commitment. People see it on the lot or in the showroom and think "Ooooh, pretty", but they never realize how much work it is to keep it looking that way. It's not impossible, but a trip throught the Auto Bell twice a year won't cut it.

Rig looks gorgeous!!
Did you take the mesh out of the hood scoop or is it blacked out?
Haha! So true!
It's funny when you think about how Toyota built them. Not many parts that suffer the elements. No plastic headlights to fade (see Jeep Grand Cherokees from the same time period), no plastic unpainted body side cladding to fade (see Ford Explorer/Excursion from the same time period), etc.
Take care of the paint and try to protect weatherstrip and you're set!
Thanks for the kind words on the 1985. Tyrone was feeling a little neglected today. Feels like spring is here so he'll get detailed soon.
Nice Bank of America shirt.... you an employee?
Gather the torches & pitchforks!
so clean! man your paint looks better than mine, and mine has been garaged for the majority of the time i have had it. I wash and wax just like all of you too. freaking Previous owner had to hit the sand storm
BTW what sliders are those?
The emerald green 4runner has clear coat on top of the basecoat. The black left the factory with no clearcoat. I think this is why I can buff my previously neglected black paint to a mirror.
