I get the feeling we'll be just like that really soon! We've had a week of temps in the 70's and everything is blooming. Won't be long.

Looks great man, I was stationed in Alabama for a few years, they had these "Love Bugs" that will destroy a car, do you have them in NC?

Thankfully, we don't have them. I detailed cars from Florida before that had love bug damage. Unreal! Those suckers are brutal!

And I think you're right, people don't give vehicle finishes half the care they need. Good thing clearcoat finishes were ever introduced. Any of you old timers like me remember how paints used to fade when everything was single stage? Remember what silvers and golds would do!?! Black is a commitment. People see it on the lot or in the showroom and think "Ooooh, pretty", but they never realize how much work it is to keep it looking that way. It's not impossible, but a trip throught the Auto Bell twice a year won't cut it.
"black is a commitment" is an understatement. Toyota was (not sure if it still is ) still using SS from just a few years back. White red and black. I know my 02' is SS and if you look at it wrong it scratches. Black is definateley a love/hate relationship.
What kind of product do you use. Anything you have found you don't like on Toyota black?

I've used everything on the 4Runner over the years. Klasse, Zaino, Meguiars, etc. What I look at is protection and "wow factor" vs. ease of use.
For example, Klasse Sealant Glaze looked great and seemed to last, but it took an entire day and a PhD. to apply and remove properly.
Bottom line is I am going to likely be buffing and waxing the vehicle about 4 times a year regardless of how durable the product is simply because I like to stay on top of it. So how long it lasts doesn't matter as much as wow factor and reducing scratches and flaws.
Yesterday I used my PC 7242 with a black pad and Megs Ultimate Compound, followed by Megs NXT. It looks great even in direct sunlight and was incredibly easy to apply and remove even with relatively high humidity.

Those black 4Runners are a huge commitment. I usually wax mine 3+ times a year but I never use a buffer. Right now my scratches are very minimal, no need to buff off some clear.
My primary rule is no drive through washers and no one else hand washes it. Those min wage workers will drop the sponge in the mud.
Pollen was pretty strong in Charelston SC when I lived there in 00', I havent seen anything like out here in CA.

Believe it or not as good as the pics look it still doesn't do it justice, you should see it in person.
Speaking of pollen, the Thunder Cloud was yellow today, and the wifes black Sienna was covered as well.
As you can see, 93toy knows his stuff about detailing some vehicles, we've been friends for about 25 yrs. and he's prob been detailing that long.

Black red and white are single stage. When you polish them there will be paint transfer on your pad/towel/cloth
That is why you wil see neglected red tacomas turn pink and white carollas turn chalky
