I'm personally a fan of maintenance, so my vote goes there.
 
I'd vote for some proper armor first. Your wife may not notice the locker, but an ugly tow bill and a major repair bill she might.
 
I'm gunna vote for a bumper or armour as well. The locker will be sweet and drive you into unknown territory but like someone else said, best to be protected first.
 
I went around to a few shops that I know of and got some quotes but wasn't really liking what I was hearing for and arb locker install. Plus I hate to open it up and not put in new gears. So I'm back at the drawing table and trying to figure out what to do.

new gears front / rear and a lunchbox rear locker?
outdoor logic bumper?
skids and sliders?

So much to do and so little money to do it all.

Since you want gears too, you gotta save up and do them and the locker(s) together. You don't want to have to pull the diffs apart and pay for the labor all over again. You'd have to buy new master bearing kits again too because the bearings can't be really trusted after pressing them out and back in again. If your $$ is burning a hole in your pocket, I'd say go with the bumper or armor for now.

But I already have a locker ...

Maybe gears and armour and add locker later ....

Also I think can order a complete 3rd with locker and gears for around that and install yourself, not sure on price though...
 
I have no idea what your abilities are, but if you get armor first it will give you the skill and confidence to be a better driver/navigator without a locker. Once you have realized your limits with the equipment you have, you could probably afford the upgrade to locker(s).

You made the right choice about talking to the wife. Its funny, but my wife always seems to buy furniture when I mod my truck too. Anyone else have this problem? Oh well, it keeps things even I guess.

Driving Open/Open for as long as you can will increase your driving skills and knowledge /confidence in your vehicle. Right now it would be a hard decision for me as what to do first between option 1) Sliders and full skids or 2) Outdoor logic bumper

The temptation would be for the bumper due to the group buy that is going on. Also you might be one to push it up to the 15% savings. I have wheeled my truck for ovr 2 years without skids and have been okay. I can add though that on some of the trails I have been in situations where I was stressed out due to potential damage to transmission pan or other parts. My advice would be this: create a spreadsheet listing each mod you want to do listing price and current level of importance to you. Then try to put a realistic time frame on when you might be able to do the next mod. As you use your rig you may find your mod list changing in what you want and also what becomes higher on the priority list.

Also figure the type of wheeling/ trails you plan on doing. I have only been worried about under damage on John Bull, and out at Johnson Valley "The Hammers" If you don't plan on doing the more advanced Black Diamond runs for a while then maybe the bumper first. You can wheel most if not all the Black Diamond trails in Big Bear Open in good weather. Most of the real hard sections have easier bypasses.

pikeman has got you headed in the right direction. I would spend the money on armour and get better at driving your T4R. The outdoor logic bumper is sweet btw I would be in on the group by but have no money to buy anything with at the moment.

Well I spent some money today on the Outdoor Logic bumper. I have a little left over and will most likely buy skids with it or lights for the bumper and a cb radio. Not sure and will wait until next week to figure that out.

Looking forward to getting my bumper on!

Nice!!! It's always nice to have the cb when group running with the rest of us socal runners.
 
nice dude. good choice on the bumper. come by and check out my sliders this week see if you like them and throw them on your list. So far thats been the best investment ive have made, they have paid for themsevles multiple times now.
