Wondering if its normal or not, but going around left hand turns and theres a small bump i hear something from the left side like suspension collapsing like a deep loud thumping but only left and seems to go away when warms up. I can turn right and zero noise, Is it the kdss making the noise. I lifted the truck and everything looks fine and dandy..

Do you mean you installed a suspension lift or physically lifted the truck in the air?
If it's the former, I would start there if there were no noises prior.

It has less then 500 miles on the TE, Havent touched anything did it when it was new.

Mine rattles going around a left turn in the rear suspension but only going into my with parking lot. I never remember it being bumpy so it caught me off guard but I also haven't emptied my trunk to see if it's something in there.

I have the same issue. Haven't taken it in to the dealer yet as I'm not sure if its normal either. Doesn't do it on the right and only happens when you hit a bump turning left. Won't do it if you creep along though

*mine has done it from pickup to now and i have 1200 miles on it

If you are going to test it out, pull everything out of your trunk and try it (even the tire jack and tools. Make sure it's not something just rattling over there since the tire jack is on the left side. If it still rattles, then take it in. I will try this on Monday

Funny avatar but it is so distracting when reading.

Yep exactly the same.

Its mostly heard from the front and kinda rear. Im a Master Toyota tech haha but im too busy with work and way to tired to work on it after work. We rarely see kdss 4runners so i can't compare to see if it is normal.

:jk: hmm...the KDSS cylinders are both on the left side (front and rear), but I've never really heard any strange thumping while turning in either direction. So my guess is it might not be normal?

Have you checked to see if the spare tire is tucked up there nice and tight and centered? I think the KDSS sway bar has a bit less clearance with the spare tire, so that's a possibility...

Haha i was wondering if i should of posted that im a tech... Yeah i know the cylinders are on the left side thats why im thinking its kdss related i can go straight over bumps and no noise, its only left and when you hit a bump very weird. Maybe next week i'll hook up chassis ears and pin point it.

I'll check the spare but i doubt it.

As I've mentioned in other threads to the other two experiencing this problem...

I have the exact same problem from day 1. I took it into my local dealership and they said it was the tires rubbing due to the new tires and wheels that I put on. BUT, I had this issue before the new wheels were installed but they were adamant that nothing else was wrong (so much that they charged me for the diagnosis as tire rubbing is not a warranty issue).

Now that there are multiple others experiencing the same exact issue, I'm feeling a little better about my sanity as far as swearing it wasn't wheels rubbing.

My original post
When I turn left with almost any speed (unless slow roll), with some small bumps in the road, there seems to be quite the rattle somewhere in/under the vehicle.

I have not experienced this at any other times besides taking left turns with any speed.

I also experience said noise/jarring when hitting bumps in the road while making left turns

Sorry guys I've been swamped at work and haven't had time to look at it, but its still making the noise on left turns.

Its definitely not the tires as mine did this with 3 miles on it, It shouds like both kdss hydraulic shock things are collapsing.

Its interesting that others with KDSS are experiencing this issue.

Do you guys ever experience it when one side hits a dip? Like if the driver side front wheel hits a pothole, you experience the noise, and then again as the rear driverside wheel hits the pothole? Same if you drive over a pothole on the Passenger side?

It wont do it going straight, but if you are turning left and hit a dip then yes you will first sounds like the front then rear noise.

I've mentioned this in some other threads; once you make any change to the suspension you're gonna get some new noises. My Tacoma has some unique ones and hofs05's 4runner has the same front end clank as many of the people on here. Most likely a bushing issue.
