I like to add my new 2014 TE to the list. I noticed the noise it the other day. Not loud or anything but I can hear it. Other then that I'm happy with the upgrade from my 2010 TE. My dealer is really good about customer service I will have them check this a my next service 5,000 miles.

Yup I have the same thing happening here with my 2014 Trail w/KDSS. I have about 100 miles on it now but it did it the very first day when turning left at low speed and going over a few small road bumps. Sounds to me like suspension coil springs smacking on something.
I am going into the dealer tomorrow to get some electronic chimes turned off, I will have them check it out and make a note on the service record so that it is documented at the very least. If anything is found I will post it here on the forum in this thread.
After seeing this and then paying closer attention to my car this morning... I think i hear the same thing. I hear what I think is a slight grind or something at 20-30 miles on a left turn. I'm only at 400 miles.
On another note... I searched around the forum and tried to figure out this one. But after starting up my car and then rolling out of my parking spot, I hear this kind of quick buzz and click almost like a relay of some sort?? Only lasts a split second and I'm not too concerned as I'm thinking it's something on the car initializing, but does anyone know what that is??? it's coming from what I think is above or behind the dash/instrument panel.

Pretty sure the quick buzz is your brake booster. They all make that sound at start up
The noise is profound it almost sounds like shock tops in older camrys that are shot. Only left turns does it pretty good around left turns that have dips but will do it when straight. I sent a tech case to toyota they haven't seen any issues:frusty: I can't find anything wrong and dont want to order parts as a guess, but i might have to try.

I have a 2011 trail with kdss. Every once in a while I would have this annoying sound coming from the passenger side. Removed wife from truck and the sound went away.

Not sure what everyones mileage is at around here, but I already have 12k on the clock. I did 5100's about 5000 miles ago. As I mentioned earlier I had the left side noise before and after the 5100's, but now I am hearing it the right now too. I really hope that this is a normal noise, but I can't tell what in the KDSS system would be making this noise
At my 10k service I asked to have it looked at, but of course they couldn't hear anything a said that everything looked good. Its so noticeable to me that I'm about to take it to the dealer and tell them I don't want the truck back until it does not make the noise, or they have a very good explanation as to what is going on. It feels like the front end is breaking apart when turning and hitting bumps, wholes, etc...
edit: Im also on 265/70/17 C Duratracs, not that it would make that much of a difference...

I'm looking to purchase a TE w/kdss or LE within a month.
Reading this thread has me a bit spooked because I was leaning towards the TE.

Honestly, I didn't really notice it or hear it until these guys brought it to my attention. Only then did I pay close attention to it and then I think I hear what they're talking about. At least to me it was pretty quiet still and I ignore it for the most part.... If I had the chance to buy TE with kdss i'd do it again without hesitation. This is a minor thing to me, but go test drive it for a long period of time so that you know for sure that it's not an issue to you.

My TE has under 2,000 miles on it and it's been making this noise since brand new. It actually makes the noise without turning left. It sounds like something is loose.
I've got Fox coilovers ready to go in but I'll have to wait until this gets dealt with. I don't want the dealer to even think about pinning this on me.
Also, is this happening to 2014s only??

I just got back from the dealer. I went for a drive with two different people, but we couldn't replicate the noise. I couldn't really find a road with lots of pot holes. This is when I notice it the most.
The parts manager there is awesome. I told him about this thread, and that only people with 2014's with KDSS are noticing the noise. He said he'd take a look to see what he can find.
I got an email from him less than an hour later with this:
Please find out your production date from Toyota and post it here and specify if you're hearing this noise or not. Probably the best case scenario, assuming the front stabilizer cylinder assembly is the culprit, is the post 02/2014 production trucks w/KDSS aren't experiencing this.
I'm hearing a hollow clunking noise from the front driver side of the truck when travelling over multiple pot holes. I hear it when I'm driving straight or turning left. I don't hear it as much when I'm turning right.
As in the email; the production date of my TE w/KDSS is between 08/2013 to 01/2014.

i've been following this thread. I guess I'm not totally sure if I do hear the noise you guys are talking about. I purposely drove over some road bumps while taking a left turn and trying to drive at the speeds you guys are talking about. I think I can hear it... i'll have to check it out some more later.

The easiest way for me to hear it is to go over a bunch of big pot holes going about 20 - 25 mph. You can do this going straight. The suspension needs to get rapidly cycled - extend and compress numerous times.
If you're lucky not to have pot holes, try going down a pretty rough, packed dirt road.
I don't hear it going over smaller bumps. Nor do I hear it going over big, gradual/smooth bumps in the road (whoops for example).
You basically need to find a hard enough terrain and hit it with the right speed (not too slow) to see if your suspension is as solid as it should be. No need to go really fast, but just fast enough to put it through its paces.

I am with [MENTION=104424]bruindave[/MENTION] on this. I think I hear it while making a moving left-hand turn over rough roads but its not jarring or distinct. Build date on mine is 2/14.

I would still buy the Trail w/ KDSS. This is a minimal issue in my opinion. If they can find a fix for it great, if not then I'm not going to worry about it...as long as the system doesn't fail or the sound/feel doesn't get worse.
