i have almost 1500 miles on my 06 SE, and been driving it easy (no hard accel, no over speeding and all that) and had the first oil change at 1k. am thinking this friday or saturday to go up Big Bear mountain so my questions is if my truck is ready for some stress going up hill? any tips?

thanks.

I changed the oil at 1K and at 3K I switched to Amsoil and installed the dual bypass filtration system. Shortly after I changed all the other fluids to Amsoil (2 diffs, & transfer case).

Cool , I did beat you though I was on some trail's at 85 mile's but they were like smooth fire lane roads. I took it real easy , you should be fine with those mikes.

20 minutes after i bought mine, i went to rower flats to see what it could do.

Don't baby it too much...

if you really care. It's already had plenty of miles, maybe too many. If you don't run the RPMs up and down to/from redline (slowly), then the engine will finish it's break-in WITHOUT having properly revved through it's range... and the opportunity to wear it in correctly will be gone, you can't get it back.

Do it both under up-hill load, backing off slowly, and downhill, using engine braking to fall back. And not just a few seconds, I'm talking about up and down over a couple miles. And do it more than once.

This is after it's all warmed up, of course. And give it a niuce dose of 'normal' driving to cool back down afterwards.
