17 or 18s

What is the preferred wheel size for both looks and off-road performance?
This is with 285 all terrains mounted.....

Why is one better than the other?

I have BFG 285 ATs right now on the stock wheels......I want to buy wider aftermarket rims

Don't know if I should buy 17s now or wait till tires wear out and then buy both new tires and 18inch wheels

I have 18's. If I bought new, I would unquestionably go with 17s because there seemed to be, at least at the tires I was looking at, many more tire size options.

17's will give you more of a sidewall and better grip/ contact batch. Great for airing down. And of course a much broader tire selection.

For tire selection, price and sidewall, 17s are better than 18s.

I've had 18s and it looks great but I went back down to 17s. There isn't a great selection for 18s plus the tires are more expensive. 17s with a better offset is perfect. I run SCS 17s with spacers on 285s and I fell in love with the truck again.

Definitely 17's. I would say 17s are the largest i would go for off road rims. 18s are for sedans and SUVs confused between practical and bling bling.
