'17 TRD Off-road Premium Radio with no lighted buttons

Just sharing my experience on my '17 TRD Off-road Premium.

There was a mixup and Toyota didn't install the remote start at the Toyota port of entry. My auto broker worked with the dealer to get the remote start installed.

When I got the 4Runner back I noticed the radio lights were no longer working. The screen worked fine. The only thing that didn't work were the lights around the knobs and other lights that are normally on at night.

After another service call, they found that a wire harness was not fully plugged in. They also checked several '17 4Runners on the lot and 50% of them had radios that didn't light up. They were surprised that new vehicles on the lot had issues as well.

I test drove new one the other day, and noticed that none of the knobs were back lit. It was very dark at night, and I was thinking it was a terrible design flaw. Are these buttons actually back lit? The sales guy was clueless.

Thanks for the heads-up! I need to check mine. I really haven't driven at night since I bought it and I'm not sure if I would even know since this is my first 4Runner.

Our 17' Offroad Premium has back-lit buttons. They worked before and after the dealer remote start install.

There should have been a blue glue around the knobs. It is similar to what is around the HVAC controls.

The service department at AutoNation was very confused, but they went the extra mile to check other models on the lot. I wouldn't buy a car there, but I was impressed with the service department.
