1991 - 1995 hilux surf year to buy

I understand that the 1992 truck is the end of a generation and 1993 - newer is the next gen.
if i had to pick between these two.
1992 has a 3 inch lift with 33" tires and 120K for 7g
the 1994 has no lift but with 120K for 8g
both have the heads already fixed..

Aside from these trucks listed, which year or years are ideal to look for?

Those years are going to be almost the same. You going to have to base it off of what you want. They didnt really change from 90-95 except 90-91 had a different grille, bumper, headlights, and some had a rear tire carrier. At least the American version did.

7& 8 Grand seem pretty steep. Where are you Located.

And yes, 90-95 are all gen 2s.

the 91 and 92 have the 2.4L Diesel and the 93 has the 3L diesel? is this right?
the 92 has the 3L head replacement tho...
the 94 has no lift but its newer, same Milage tho...
i almost need a second opinion, i just dont know which one to buy,

i forgot to mention the work that was done was as stated below:
new head, glow plugs, a/c, braking system, rear end.

what are other things that need to be done?
iv noticed that most of the hilux surf owners all have work done to the truck including, new water pump, new thermostat, new timing belt, new timing belt pully,radiator redone and such.

Is this a regular maintenance thing or is the truck hitting that point at 75000Miles where it needs that replaced anyways?

A bit off topic but do parts from the North American, gasoline version, aside from the motor since the hilux is diesel do most of the other parts such as caliper remain interchangable (same identical part)? axle, brakes (what ever else)

i am new to this scene of trucks, i have a few buddies with 4 runners, and one keeps preaching not to get the japanies hilux because the owners of these trucks in japan dont take care of their trucks.

Is there a fair amount of truth in that or any reason to not buy one..

I just have no idea what these trucks are worth..

120Km seems low, diesel and roof rack, front bullbar for 7 seems like a good deal??? oh ya red. auto..

are there any COMMON problems other than regular fixes at this age such as, Upgraded head, new water pump, new thermostat, new timing belt, new timing belt pully, braking system, a/c, that could go wrong up until 300KM (obviously taking in to consideration taking care of the truck)

I'd make sure to get one with a 3.0L TD engine, the 2.4's have a terrible reputation, and are underpowered beyond what the 3.0's are even, lol. Where are you located?

the 93 and up are 3L right??
Whats with the horrible reputation for the 2.4L, what if the head was replaced for a 3L header.
is it uncommon for manual 5 speed??
are the automatic transmissions crappy
