Hello Everyone. I am new here today. I found this place looking for a likely simple question for most of you, but I just need your expertise.
I have a 4X4 with a 5 speed manual tranny which I drained and found it was full of tranny fluid. I drained the transfer case and it was full of gear lube. After reading my Haynes manual, it stated the tranny was to have the 80W90 gear lube and the transfer case, DexronII ATF. On the 4 cyliders, it says use 80W90 in the transfer case, but the 6 says ATF.
Also when I drained and refilled these (by the Haynes manual), neither the tranny or transfer case took the full capacity it stated before coming out the overflow. The tranny took 3.5 quarts (said 4-7) and the transfer case took 1.5 quarts (said 3.4).
Could anyone please assist with what to use where and possibly the recommended quantity?
Thank you kindly.
Ryan
