1995 Toyota 4runner overheating?

Hello all,

I purchased 95 runner about a month ago. The guy said it was squealing when the A/C was on and that was the only problem. It drove well for a few weeks in town about 35 mph or less. I got up to about 45 mph and when I parked the water was boiling and it began to come out of the overflow. On my way home it started smoking really bad.. the top radiator hose blew. I replaced the top and lower. The next day it's still boiling and overflowing. I replaced the thermostat and got one with a fail-safe and tried again. It's still doing the same thing. The temperature gauge doesn't show I'm overheating, but normal. What might be my next direction? Waterpump? I heard to burp the hoses as that may be the issue. I haven't checked this yet.. how difficult is replacing the waterpump? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, but my strength for prying good bolts is limited compared to you muscle guys. :)
I appreciate all suggestions!
