1996 4Runner SR5 4wd 5-speed manual transmission w/rare rear diff lock

I have a ultra low mileage sr5 manual transmission 4x4 3rd gen 4Runner SUV. If you know this car you'll know that the 5-speed V6s are rare. It is also a 4wd with the rare electronic e-locker rear end which makes it super special and very capable off road. It has under 73,xxx original miles and is in emaculate condition. I have some extras such as the sport hood and TRD BBS 18x9 wheels. All these rare OEM options on a low mileage chassis makes this an awesome find. This 4Runner even has MP3 and wma capability aswell as being able to play DVDs. The airconditioning blows ice cold and the manual transmission is a blast to drive. I LOVE this SUV but I've collected too many car and since I don't have time to go up to the snow anymore there's really no reason to own it. I'm just too busy to play with it to make it worth it to keep. Hopefully the buyer could put it to good use and love this truck as much as I have. A truck with such low miles needs to stretch her legs and play... I only get to drive her once a week sundays. Brand new 275/65/17 all terrains have just been installed on the BBS wheels and the truck has just had ALL fluids changed so she's ready to go. Most people think the Tacoma is the only 4wd made in manual transmission by toyota, but a small number of manual v6 4runners were made as well. Located in San Jose CA and has absolutely no rust.

The interior is ultra clean and shows no typical signs of wear on the driver's seat, steering wheel, shift knob or anywhere else.

Seeing as how there is a local 4runner limited with twice my milage selling for $11k plus tax and license at a dealer among others I feel that I am priced fairly competitively. Let me know what you guys think.

Is it just the picture, or is there damage to your front bumper? Looks dented towards the drivers side turn signal in the 2nd and last picture of your first set of photos...

Yes, the bumpers have small dents. The price I paid for working as a chef in San Francisco, people don't know how to park without bumping cars.

I did a quick checked based off of what you listed here....

In "Good" condition you are looking at $6,110 (Private Party) so I am guessing you are gonna have a hard time getting anywhere near your asking price unless someone has a serious fetish for 4runners.

Truck is worth $6k, $7k max, good luck, there will always be some assh0le ready to overpay because they have no idea what they are looking at, but i doubt someone is willing to fork up $13k or $11k for a 14 year dime a dozen car that you have to shift yourself. There are quite a lot of 5 speed V6 4runners they are just a little harder to find.

First, your $6k, $7K max statement is bologna. Only 73K miles on a 3.4 4x4 5-speed with e-locker in fantastic condition.... definitely worth more than $7k to the right buyer. Not an "assh0le" ready to overpay...but an educated buyer who knows that rarity and condition are hard to put specific value on.

Second, it annoys me greatly when people crap on a for sale thread because they think the price is too high. If he wants to sell bad enough and he can't get the money, he'll lower the price. Duh. Or he'll keep the truck and be happy. Let him ask what he wants to ask.

Thanks for the support guys. I actually don't really need to sell the car... I have quite a few cars and I don't use my 4runner as much as I thought I would. Most of my cars are fairly rare... I happen to enjoy special cars and mostly all low mileage. I daily drive a 4door e36 m3... that one has 230k miles on it. Had it since new in 97.

I bet you could easily get $11k for it in CO. There are definitely people willing to pay for it -maybe not @ TR4.org, but I've seen 3rd gens going for
$7-8k with ~200. I bought my 5spd in September 09 (no elocker) with 115k for $6200.

If you don't need to sell it, then don't. You'll be glad you kept it.

But it won't, how in 01 you could buy a 97ish 5 speed with similar milage in that condition for $15k and today he expects to get right about the same amount. And mine may be a little bit of an exception but i bought it a year ago for $1850 with 140k miles on an auction with only a rear bumper and a rear diff needing to be replaced ($225 total), with a mint interior too.

I agree. In CO you could probly get $11K. 13 is a stretch... however, the dealers here in colorado would probly list it at $15k

If i were to sell mine now in CO, I'd try to get $7-8K for it. Its got 235,000 miles on it. Thats actually what i payed for it in 2005 and 75K more miles than it had when i bought it.

I don't know what you mean by "that logic". I was simply stating facts about his truck, and in the perspective that there are literally hundreds of 4runners for sale with MORE miles, for MORE money than $7k, with LESS desirable options. I never said his truck was worth a certain amount....I just said that your stated "$7k max" is bologna. Which it is.....evidenced by the fact that people have offered him $11k. If you have a hard time with math, 11 is more than 7.

Your truck is most definately an exception...not "kind of" an exception. MMR (Manheim market value, based on Manheim's nationwide auction prices) for a 1997 SR5 with 190,000 miles....is over $3k. That's wholesale, at the largest auto auction company in the nation. Matter of fact, I only saw a couple instances from the last 2 months where any 3rd gen 4runner sold for less than $2k at auction. Any year, any miles, any condition. Ok, I'm done. lol
