1997 4Runner Lift-Tire Questions

Ive wanted to do something with my 1997 4Runner 4x4 for a while and decided the first order of business is to get some lift and bigger tires. Right now Ive got just the stock-clearance as far as suspension and tires go (265/70-16) and Ive got three questions.

1) Whats the largest tire that would fit well with the normal stock-clearance?

2) Whats the best lift to get? (lookin to get 2.5 to 5 inches please include brand)

3) What size tires should I get to go with that lift?

best thing to do is search but since you are new ill answer the questions

1. 265/75/16 tires will be the biggest you can run.. you might get away with some 255/80/16s with a 1 inch body lift which equivilates to 33x9.5 inch tires. very narrow.

2. no more then 3 inchs of lift to keep your cvs from bombing out. 2 inch body lift to make it 5 total if you want that

options
OME old man emu full suspension
ome 891 or 890 coils in the rear with 2.5 inch cornfeds up front
or get tundra trd coils with the tacoma trd shocks from an 05-06 model
getting expensive, get some camburg or donahoe coilovers for the front

another rear option is fzj80 landcrusier coils. gets you about 4 inchs of rear lift

www.sonoransteel.com is good place to order a full lift with diff drop, panhard drop, topouts, extended studs and what not

www.burtmanindustries.com has the cornfed lift 2.5 inchs front 2 inchs rear .

3. 285/75/16s is a good tire size to run with a lift of at least 3.5 inchs to clear some rubbing issues.. still need to pound the pinch weld

305/70/16s which are 12 inch wide instead of 11.2 inchs which 285s are will get you more width wise

to run a 315/75/16, you need less backspacing and need 3 inch suspension and 2 or 3 inch bodylift. and some shaved upper control arms and maybe lower control arms with longtravel kit.

I have his front spacers on mine.. however I didnt get the rear spacers. I went with OME coils and OME shocks. spacers are good for dailydriven and mild off roading.. however my spacers arent tall enough for my rear springs. gonna end up going with coilovers or coils and struts
