The seat bottom difference will be the occupancy sensor for the passenger seat. The foam itself should be the same. Make sure you get the correct 'version' (sport vs. regular). I was able to transfer the occupancy sensor over to new (errrr... re-used, but better shape) foam and held it down with some spray adhesive.

Definitely *not* stock on all of them. Many did get it, and many of those have been ripped off or removed by now too.

exactly... sensor is the only reason they list as out of stock... I have taken apart probably 20 different 3rd gen seats for all years except for 96 and 2002 now. why they do it this way I don't know? I guess peel and stick occupancy sensors are too advanced for auto techs?

all the foams have been the same, they have punch outs for the different features. lumbar level or switch.

if you really want to get fancy you can swap backs on seats. I have on both my trucks so the passenger also has lumbar adjust. 4 bolts lemon squeezy, and you have to snip a new hole for the output shaft thing.

I have done the backs with both auto and manual lumbar

you will have to wire a tiny bit... but not a huge deal if you already have power seats.

and for poor man seat, you can use the twist knob or the lever... I kind of like the twist knob that comes off the height adjust... still looking for a moon mist one... moon mist is kind of hard to find. eventually I will find one.

the only reason I did this... was because my wife complained... lack of lumbar... then once I did it she complained it was not as nice as the land rover.... I was like shesh lady.

turned out to fail on the (b) part... never had to test this part and wowey a brand new one is $350-$500... so I think a trip to pick n pull might be order... I swear I have tossed a couple of these and I also swear to the mother of science I have one someplace... reminds me I need to clean out the garage and toss a bunch of other things I will need someday.

anyway the magic light turns back on and turning gets way harder so it seems we are back in bizness next time it snows. engage tiger paws mode! mall ninja style.

I would honestly move to a different country just to have one, I'm a simple man.

I started chasing this color schema a while back and the truck color is pretty easy to find based on the Toyota color, however the wheel color is not so easy. it is surprisingly hard to match colors. I think I'm close? so this is the color I'm going with on my wheels.

Rims look great. I perfer a steel rim for a spare tire underneath. My reasoning is I can flip them over and check my spare tire pressure without bringing my tire down .

new ignition cyclider and bleep blooper

the key kept getting stuck and just looked terrible... like a metal eating rat had been chewing on it....

it was time for a new CYLINDER & KEY SET, IGNITION SWITCH LOCK. I had been looking for the complete set but it's out of production and I was not able to find a complete set.

for $75 with 2 new keys and a brand new ignition cylinder done deal.

However now my key will no longer match the door so I headed down cheap knockoff keyless entry. In particular this one seems to be decent with 11 billion reviews.

so lets tear it all apart and see what we can do here

starting with the lock/unlock triggers from the riveting document 1998 4Runner Electrical Wiring Diagram EWD319U we see the red/white and red/yellow on the IF1 blue connector plugs so I spliced into them on the drivers door side. this was pretty easy actually.

this next part you will have to use your imagination because I was wayyyy to angry to slow down and take a picture of it.

you can ground out the Red/White wire coming from the stalk to the tail relay. to do this I ended up having to use another relay to swap the + signal out of the black box to - signal. not hard at all since I already all the wires I needed.

once that is done you can lock and unlock all the doors, and the front marker light and rear running lights flash a couple of times. The interior lights also flash since this circuit sends power to the interior illumination circuit.

all in all it works just like factory except no bleep bleep sound... and that is ok for me.

If you were so inclined, you could pull your existing cylinders and take the key tag that came with your new one down to a locksmith and he'd match them all up.

yep exactly what is in the pic on partsouq. would have been nice to find the doors as well... and have a complete set but I'm guessing now with that code I can get somebody to match it? never had anybody do it on a car for me? I have done schlage door locks on my house with the help of a friend so I'm guessing it works the same way on car locks.

yea mine came with black plastic key and metal key and little tag with numbers on it. same as my 2001, T100, and 2nd gen came with from the dealer when I purchased them new. I have not tired to get the other locks re-done yet but I'm guessing that is all that is needed.

note: yes I have not been to a car dealer since 2001. was the last new car I purchased.

Because I need to do all of mine now.

I have few lock sets with different combinations and keycode. I should like you said rekey those cylinders to match my code. All the lock cylinders were intact on the parts mobile. So I have some pieces to work with. Plus I know we have a few threads on the subject. Thanks for the offer Sleepy Dad.

I have done schlage door locks on my house with the help of a friend so I'm guessing it works the same way on car locks.

I watched the home depot locksmith match a new home door lock to me existing key once, just to see how it's done. Been doing my own home door locks ever since. I'm really wondering what's involved in re-keying one of those Toyota locks. With the right tools and wafers, I'm sure it can be done at home.
