started this project awhile ago. figured id make up a thread about my progress. the donor is a 97 v6 automatic 4runner sr5. pretty clean. got it off a kid who took it mudding and threw a rod out the side of the 5vz. so me and my buddy went in on this project, i bought the 4runner, he supplied the 1uz and associated. we tried to keep it as simple as possible. no mods to the chassis or suspension. and everything is going to work. p/s, a/c, cel, all the gauges.. ect ect. we started with a jdm ls400 1u, which means we had to switch to a sc400 rear sump pan and oil filter housing to clear the front x member. one of our goals was to utilized the 5vz a340e transmission. i work in a machine shop and made adapters to bolt the 5vz tq converter to the 1uz flex plate. that and a stock 1uz bellhousing took care of that.
once we got the motor sitting in the with tranny bolted up to the stock mount and crossmember we noticed the motor was to far forward. so we modified the tranny x member, reused the stock mount and moved the whole thing back a coupe inches. no it sits perfect. we used the stock 5vz motor mount on the 1u mount bracket. the only real fab we are going to run into is the exhaust manifolds/ exhaust and a/c line (the 1u compressor is on the oposite side of the motor to the 5vz). the power steering lines bolted up, the throttle cable and heater hose's bolted up. the only big obstacles left are sorting out the wiring, exhust manifolds that fit, and getting a 4cyl radiator to make the radiator hose's a little bit closer to lining up. ill get more pics but here's a couple so far..
