Tire Size CalculatorWould 255/55/20 work? The Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza and Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season come in that size.
Just an FYI for everyone thinking that 275/55R20 is ok to run on the stock 20"x7" wheels because Discount Tire said so...the Discount Tire in Tempe, AZ told me that there wouldn't be any worry about with a 275/60R20 Michelin M/S2 fitting on the stock wheels too. I disagreed, came home and found that Michelin only specs the tire to fit 7.5"-9" Wheels (LTX M/S2 | Michelin Tires).
As for approved 275/55R20 tires on the stock 20" wheels, it would be nice to know how much testing has been done with this setup.
My gut tells me the drama people are ascribing to putting a 7.5 min width spec tire on a 7 rim are way overblown.
Its not drama, its a safety concern. Always better be safe than sorry, especially on tires, the first line of defense in a car.
I ended up with 18's and super happy. The rim it self is too narrow, why bother?
that's a compelling arguement which I expect to ignore with my next set of tires mounted on the stock 20s.
Has anyone ran Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires? I am either getting a set of 20 x 9 XD Addicts or XD Misfits. I would like to get a set of tires that do not look to aggressive but will do well in snow and on the beach. Doubt my truck ever sees a trail since I have my 75 FJ.

To be honest, I really can't tell much of a difference between the stockers and the TGs on both ride quality and noise and I've driven them at about 80mph on the highway.
I looked at wheel and tire combinations for months, but the stock 20" are what sold me on the vehicle. I have about 4,000 miles on them now, rotated at my 5k oil change. I replaced the OEM Yokohama at about 2,600. On road, I think the NTG ride better than stock and they don't track the grooves in the road like the stock tires. I tend to drive fast and corner hard coming from a 20thAE GTI. The stock tires came with 40PSI so I run the same in the NTG's. They are good on the highway and I feel comfortable driving 70-80MPH. They are now starting to make a bit of a hum on the highway (only with the radio off), but not too bad for an AT tire. Around town they are quite. Off-road has been minimal, just dirt roads and mud - there is not much open to off-roading in eastern MA. Had them on sand, over-sand roads and they did great; never aired down - I didn't really hit areas that were not compacted by other vehicles. I have not seen any evidence of rubbing either.

I'm not sure I will be getting them, but I thought I would share the info.
