Got it to start today..!!!

Congratulations childrenofbodom.! I bet you were pretty busy all this time.! Well, I cranked it today before coming to work, and it started on the first time. I was pretty happy. I still have to tie up some wire bundles and install the interior covers etc.... No engine check lights but I do have an issue that needs to be adressed, the idle is kind of high but I had the same issue with a 2000 4runner v6 that I was fixing for a friend. I fixed it by running it until it got to operating temperature around the block, then disconected the battery (-) for about 1/2 hour and hooked it back up, cranked it and it ran fine. I still have to get it off the jack stands and run it on the street but, I have to work on the diagrams so I can post it now that I'm 101 % that everything is fine as far as the wiring. Did you install manual locking hubs on your 4runner or ADD's???

Well, on 12-31-2011 I took the 4runner for a drive.... it feels so good to drive a manual 4runner.!!! I'm working on the wiring so I can post it along with all the pictures that I took, but it's been taking me foreverrrrrrr. Even the wife has been helping me on this. I'll get to post all the info, just a little bit longer......

ECU wiring ....

Just want to apologize to those who have been waiting on me to post the wiring info for the 4runner. Working two jobs and working on everybody's cars doesn't leave me with a lot spare time, but I haven't forgotten this thread and will not consider this done until I post all the information that I gathered. I found a couple of interesting things about the manual vs the automatic ECU and will be posting this info. later on....

clutch pedal connectors...

Ok, finally got some time off.... Here is a picture of some connectors that I got from my local junk yard. These are for the clutch pedal: clutch start switch, cruise control and the reverse light. I got most of them from toyota tercels corolla's and celica's which are basically the same connectors and some of them not quite the same but the pins are the same. Vehicle years are all around 90's... all for the cost of around $7.00 bucks, you can't beat that.! I even got a clutch start switch from a tercel, I did not use it since my clutch pedal came with it, but I got it for spare.

Park neutral switch connector ( P1 )

Here is a few pictures of the park neutral switch connector, the front, back side of it and what I used to take it apart. I ended up taking it apart completely, but first making my connections so I wouldn't get the wires confused even though I marked everything with masking tape.

Not much to say here, everything is self explanatory... I swapped the pins on this connector just to match the colors, I used a paper clip, but first I kind of smashed the end of it to make the pin removal easier... If you have any questions feel free to ask... Ohhh this connector goes to the clutch pedal.. duh..

Cruise control switch connections...

This connector is not much different from the clutch start switch and is pretty easy to connect, just like the rest the clutch pedal connections. Just have to have the right wiring diagram.

Reverse light switch connections...

For some reason, I lost the pictures for this connection, but have the connectors... The grey connector on the left is from a junkyard, the white one on the right, bought it from the toy.dealer...

Reverse light, cruise control and clutch start switch wiring routing...

I routed the wires for these connections over the left side of the tranny and up on left side of the engine and pulled the wires thruough the grommet next to the clutch master cylinder. I used electrical tape and a stiff wire to pull the wires through without ripping the firewall grommet, or you can pull one by one.

ECU wiring ....

Here is a few pictures of the ECU and its connectors, what I used to pull the pins out. Like everybody else, I downloaded the wiring diagram from the toyota website which is $15.00 for 2 days if I'm not mistaking. If you have any doubts about the connections on any of the pins, you can remove the cover from the ecu and you'll see that every pin on the pc board is identified as you can see in the pictures. Both, the auto and manual are identified the same, but if you trace the pin on the board, you'll see that it will end at a component (diode, resistor, transistor etc..) that either will be there or it will be missing. If it's missing, it means that that particular pin has no function. I have a list of the pins that have no function on the manual ECU. I'll be posting that later on. :girl:
