2000 4Runner: Accessory Power outlet fuse??

Hi All

The accessory power outlets, two in the front, one in the rear stopped having power. The cigarette lighter still has power. I

There is an accessories fuse that powers some relays when you turn the key to "acc". I think the fuse is labelled "acc". That must not be blown in order for your power outlets to work. There is also the power outlet relay itself that must work in order for your power outlets to work. Finally, there is the power outlet fuse that must not be blown either.

It's too late for me to go out to the truck to check now, but I think those three are all in your engine compartment fuse box, which is located right next to your battery. Look on the diagram on the fuse box cover to find the right ones to test/replace.

It was stupidly simple. On the rode, I only had a chance to look at the fuse panel under the dash. There was a fuse labeled so that I thought it was for the power outlet accessories.

it turns out the actual fuse is under the hood in the main fusebox. A 15A fuse and a relay. Replacing the fuse fixed the problem.

Removing Power Outlet Relay

Bump for this old thread.

I'm also trying to figure out what is wrong with my power outlets (front and rear). The fuses are good and I wanted to check the power outlet relay -- located in the under hood fuse box.

Now the question -- how in the heck do you pull the relay out? I've really tugged on the relay with no luck, am I missing a release tab or something? Could it have arced the contacts and be stuck in the socket, what am I missing?

Never mind -- I ended up forcefully rocking the relay side to side to loosen it up (not front to back). The good news is that the relay is ok and confirmed that by swapping it with its twin relay that was in the same under hood fuse/relay box.

And FYI, note that the power outlets front and rear only work when the ignition is on, which can be damned inconvenient. If you pull the power outlet relay from the under-hood fuse panel, open it up, and put a piece of plastic under the spring-loaded contact to force it into constant contact (search it, many videos on the process), your front and rear outlets will work full time without the 4runner running, with a nod to Lunar Landing. Great for morning coffee at the camp site. Just be careful about draining the battery and leaving yourself stranded, lol.
