Hi folks, upgrading the factory stereo on my 4runner, didn't want to put a lot of money into but want ipod control, bluetooth with streaming, still wanted CD.

So I bought:
219.00 - JVC MP3/WMA CD Car Deck With iPod Control (KD-R820BT) its 199.00 at Crutchfield but not here in Canada.
12.95 - Scosche Harness (TA021F) (says for non - amplified.. we shall see)
Free - Bottom tray and bracket from toyota car at Yunk Yard

I'll post pics later this weekend on the install, I'm assuming the harness will work on the connectors before the factor amp and hopefully I'm not giving up much wattage either.

Yes the cd player is upside down - as I discover later on.

Moving out to the 4Runner:

I started by removing the 4x4 lever, philip screw holds it in place - you can likely do this with out removing the center console cover but I wanted to for some other reasons as well.

I was able to pull it with just my fingers, you may need something to pry on it.

Next I popped of the HVAC panel

More to come.

I think the wiring harness will work for either, the two plugs if it has the slave amp are behind the slave amp - which I just completely removed to get to the two plugs I wanted.

I freaked out for a second when I just saw the one plug in the back of the OEM deck, then saw it going to the slave amp and the two proper plugs were in the back of that.
