2002 Sport 5 Speed Swap - Difficulty? Cost?

Still missing my 4runner and need some help.
I found a 2002 Sport that I like but I need to have a 5 speed.
So what would a 5 speed swap take in terms of labor and parts?
I know the multi mode makes it a lot more challenging.
Do I need drive shafts? Diffs? ECU?
Also if anyone has a rough idea of what to budget that would be a big help.

You need a donor truck to make it possible without is costing a ton. But your looking at spending a lot no matter what, there are lots of write ups on this

Donor truck does make it way cheaper and easier. Absolutely required is the trans and shifter, trans mount, and clutch components. That includes the clutch pedal, brake pedal, clutch start switch, master cylinder, two hardlines and the rubber flex line, the slave cylinder, flywheel, clutch disc, clurch cover, pilot and throwout bearing...and the specific wiring diagrams for what the trans came out of and your 4runner as well.

Obviously youd want the interior pieces as well, and the clutch release switch to get your cruise working. Your cel will be on, but only way to get it to go out would be to get a 5speed ecu and repin it, which Is where the mulitmode comes into play because the two dont coexist in an ecu I believe.

Would also probably want the rear driveshaft or a spacer, and a bit of time to get it figured out.

Budget, I paid 800 for a wrecked donor truck, bought a clucth kit for 235 and have probably 150 in fluids/random bits. However, I have already made my 800 back on the 4runner, and still have the shell to scrap.

Im sure it can work, they bolt up, thats the crucial part, after that it just takes time, preperation and patience to get it to work. Dont view it as a simple thing, but also dont be discouraged against doing it.

you do have another option to get the cel off. you can swap out the wiring harness, though repining sounds easier. you do need an ecu from the same year though

That is also difficult because you'd have to swap harness for the interior as well, or repin that part of it as well. Because that was my plan until until I real is ed the interior harnesses are different.
