2003 4R Back Window / wiper not working

I recently disconnected the battery to fix a stuck door lock motor and my back window n wiper stopped working. So I followed the instructions below and the automatic back window and wiper work great when the car ignition is in the "ON" position and the car is off, but when I start the car both the window and and the wiper stop working.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

To reset the rear window operation:
1. Turn ignition switch to the “ON” position.
2. Push the back door power window switch to the “DOWN” side to open the window.
3. Push and hold the back door power window switch to the “UP” side until the window closes. Continue holding it for approximately 1 second.
4. Check for proper operation of the “one-touch open/close” functions by pushing the switch briefly to the “DOWN” and “UP” position.

I just fixed this yesterday. I was having issues with rear defrost and rear wiper and key fob not rolling down rear window. I am able to roll down rear window from dash. I rolled it down and held button for 10 seconds. Then rolled up and held button for 10 seconds. rear defrost turned on and rear wiper works. Not sure if car had ignition on or if engine was running. All I know is it worked. Got the info from this forum.
