2004 4runner engine

I have a 2004 4.0 4runner that threw a rod and will need a new engine. My question is what other Toyotas have that same engine where it will be a simple swap and does any one know where to purchase a good one for a fair price and reasonable miles. And any tips or advice on engine swap. I will really appreciate any help- Kirk

The 4.0 is common among every platform that used the 120 and 150 series land cruiser chassis. 4th and 5th gen 4runners, FJ cruiser, 2gen Tacoma,and thr 120/150 prados

Rods would probably be pretty standard. I'd suggest getting more info in the 4th generation forum
