I'm replacing my drivers side drive axle on a 2004 4runner and the repair manual is telling me to use a slide hammer with a hook adapter which is placed in the notches on the inner CV housing.
Amazon.com: OTC 27315 Slide Hammer Puller Hook Attachment: Automotive
A local auto parts store suggested using a CV joint puller with a slide hammer but the adapter does not fit around the shaft of the axle behind the inner CV housing. Just wondering who has replaced the drivers side axle and what methods worked best for removing it from the differential?
