Hi Everyone,
I have enjoyed reading your comments over the last few months. Bought a 04 SR5 V8 4runner back in August (traded in my 1993 4runner with 200k miles). Great vehicle, of course.
I may not be alone here... I am a bit dismayed that my 04 v8 is APPARENTLY underpowered compared to the new 05 v8.
However, I have noticed that the newer (05) rated 270 HP is at 5400 rpm and the older (04) rating of 238 HP was at 4800 rpm--not much difference in torque.
I am surprised that I have found no comment about this in more detail.
Asside from the 05 vvt-i implementation, how much "real" difference is there in their respective HP? Have there been any changes to the SR5 V8 transmission from 04 to 05 as well?
Would enjoy any feedback...
Thanks!
