It may be just fancy marketing for something that all new car paints already are. But just because you don't need to wax it doens't mean that you shouldn't. Nothing beats the feeling of driving your freshly washed and waxed, shiny 4runner out of the driveway for a cruise!

Ahhh, My wife and I just bought an 05 SR5 2wd and I was wondering why mine was the only one I saw with a chrome grill. The 5sp transmission is mac and yes, the silver accent on the back is no longer there, it is body colored.
Ours is titanium silver w/ leather and factory sunroof.

didn't we discuss before... one of the major differences between the 04 and 05 model is the spoiler? the spoiler is different... The body kit is color coded on my sport edition. So it matches all around.
but I have just discovered that Blue gets dirty REAL FAST!!!!

My dad has the 04 sport v8 and I have the 05 sport v8. I don't notice too much of a difference. He's got the i-force and I have the vvt-i. Not much of a difference in my opinion.

Congrats on the new 4Runner. In 2004, Toyota made the instrument lights turn on when you start the ignition and turn off when you turn off the ignition. I think it was because 03 owners were complaining that they couldn't see them in the day. Don't know how you'd turn them off.

I don't have a clue. I put in more lights for my truck..hahaha.. I need to take some pictures I haven't gotten any pictures yet of my 05 4runner. I'm gonna get that done tonight! it is a plan!

2005 V6 and 5 speed?
are you guys SURE the V6 has a 5speed like the Tacoma? Because when building one on toyota.com, it only gives 4spd as an option for the 4wd V6. . . .
what are the mpg ratings now between the V8 and V6? I might pop for another V8. . . .I'm considering an 2005 Tacoma, but I love the 4Runner. . . .
Did they FIX the seat issues? Or they still there??
My 2003 still has them . . . .POS!!!

The 2005 V6 definitely has the 5 speed tranny. I think on the V8 4WD, you should get around 15 city and 16-17 highway. I am getting around 16 highway and 14 city. The V6 is probably 1-2 MPG more. My 2003 Sport had the seat issue as well. My 2005 doesn't, but this one has power seats and I don't know if that was an issue to begin with. Between the 2003 and 2005 V8, I don't see a drastic change in the MPG numbers but I only have 600 miles on it. I do feel that the 2005 has more pep to it, especially at higher speeds. In addition, my 2005 makes it up some of the steep hills with a little more ease.

yeah, the power seats are "exempt" from the seat issues. . . .I checked www.fueleconomy.gov and found that the differences between the V6 and V8 2005 4Runners is paltry. . . .the price however isn't!
it's funny, the main site says it's a 5-speed, and it obviously is, but when I try to configure a 4Runner for 77054, it shows that it's a 4-speed auto, EVEN though it's descrived as a 5-speed. . .stupid website programmers forgot to update everything. . . .

My 2005 SR5 4x4 does indeed have a 'five-speed' automatic. I believe that the two top gears are overdrives, though. In normal traffic, you can run around in third gear (don't know why you'd want to), and it still runs quite well on the open road in the "4" position. Bump it over to the "D" spot and it hums right along.
My guess is that Toyota did this to allow for the engine to more efficiently use its power band - as well as enhancing fuel economy. Ford put five-speed automatics in the Ranger a few years ago and it made a lot of difference. Besides, with automatic transmissions being so technologically advanced over what they were a few short years ago, it only costs a little bit more to stick in the extra cog.
I've had my SR5 since Janaury and typically get about 15 to 17 mpg in local driving and can bust the 20 mpg barrier on the highway - if I can keep it under 70 mph (very hard to do). It is not the most fuel-efficient vehicle, but gets acceptable mileage for something that big, powerful and heavy.
