Toyota is claiming a 0.9% increase across the board on all the 4runner models. Now that is based on the base price. They may have raised the options more than that.

I'm just really curious whether or not Toyota did a re-design on the driver's non-power seat. Mine clicks, moves around all the time, and its getting worse as time goes on. If only they could fix it, I'd have no problems.

So, did the Nav System get updated to the single all-in-the-dash Solara style, or is it still the dual box unit like '04?

It is my understanding that some, if not all, 2004s have an all-in-dash unit. My 2003 has the seperate dvd unit in the cargo area. There are some guys on here that know a lot more about the Nav systems than I do, so maybe someone can give you more details.

I sure hope they fixed the fresh air problem (where every time you have the controls on LO it puts it on recycled air)...oh yeah, and a longer interval on the intermittent wipers. To me that would mean a lot more than the color of the rack and the bumper trim.

I was under the impression that the 4Runner used a climate control system similar to my GS400, where if you have it on "auto", then it detects pollutants in the air, it automatically switches to recirculated air, and if the air is detected as clean enough, it switches back to fresh air.

Is this the case?

highly doubtful if that was the case. since i live in ND (which has a total state pop. of 663k) and the city i live in only has 45k in it. my drive to work is 20 miles one way out in open country. it always starts off in re-circ mode 80% of the time and will stay in re-circ mode unless i turn it off.

I highly doubt that it has anything to do with pollutants in the air, either in the 4Runner or GS400.

With the 4Runner the automatic selection of recirculate happens even if the control is not in the "auto" mode and seems to be largely a function of difference between selected temperature setting and outside air temperature.

There are other threads here about this as it annoys a lot of people, myself included.

I'm positive that's how my GS400 works. It says it in the manual, and is also evident by the fact that anytime I get behind someone with smoke coming from their exhaust, the system immediately switches over the recirculated air.

The sensetivity of the polution sensor is adjustable in my car... I had to turn it down because it kept switching back and forth at even the slightest hint of pollen or smoke.

The 05's have a different ECU that controls the air conditioning compressor. I doubt that has anything to do with the recirculate/fresh air issue though.

Hood vent? I don't see what you're talking about.

Do you mean some sort of heat exchage/register?

I still don't see where that might be...

Another 2005 upgrade

I just bought a 2005 SR5, and haven't seen it mentioned here yet, but there are also some minor changes in the interior.

The power sunroof button is now in the center console, between the overhead lights, and the compartments next to the drive selector are slightly different. Of course you know about the chrome grill and 5 speed tranny, and VVT-i (per Toyota's press release).

Also, I think the MPG will go up with the 5 speed, as driving ~60 freeway miles the on-dash meter averaged ~25.5 mpg, and at some points in the first 50 miles or so (before a little traffic) was up to the high 26's. I have read that the onboard meter may be a little high, but still that would be an improvement over the '04.

My sunroof switch is in the overhead console between the two maplights, so I don't think that was changed. Do you have a picture of the compartments? I'd really like to see what changes were made. As far as I can tell, only the blanks for the Limited's seat heater switches were added on (I guess to save costs from making two types of consoles for SR5/Sport and Limiteds). Thanks!

I was comparing aganst a used '04 (the only other one I saw with a sunroof) and the switch for it was black and to the left of the center console. Maybe it was aftermarket though.

Do you have a picture of the compartments? I'd really like to see what changes were made.

I'll see if I can get one to turn out. Specifically, I think I noticed that the power outlet was in a different place. Again, maybe an option/upgrade difference. I'm qualifiying everything after my sunroof comment!

The tranny definately does shift smooth, but it's hard for me to say whether that's the VVTi/new tranny or whether the 4 speed was comparably smooth.

toyota trannies are known to be smooth...4speed or 5speed.

I'm in the Seattle area. Maybe being close to Japan is an advantage in this regard?

The 05 V6 models are showing up all over the country at about the same time.

The V8s aren't coming out until December or January.

I don't think area of the country matters that much except for the difference in how efficient each region's distributor is on passing out the new models.
