Does anyone know the difference between 44200-35061 and 44200-35070? They both say they fit but one is $650 and the other is $972. Both appear to be new OEM. Also can anyone verify they come with new outer tie rods?

Toyota part number 44200-35061 is the rack and pinion assembly for 2003-2005 4Runners (Limited, Sport, SR5).

Toyota part number 44200-35070 is the rack and pinion assembly for 2004-2009 4Runners (Limited, Sport, SR5).

Typically if an older part is improved in a newer part Toyota will list it as a supersession number, but I'm not seeing that.

I don't have an explanation for the overlap for 2004 and 2005.

I'd be calling a trusted Toyota parts dealer for more details.

Yeah dealership was really no help. They didn’t know.

Also true for intake manifold gaskets. Different sets for after 1/11/04 and before 31/10/04. Rushed to order a set for my '05 V8 4R when mice chewed up wiring harness to knock sensors and ordered the wrong set (before 31/10/04), Installed and all kinds of vacuum leaks at new gasket. Redid with right gasket set and all was good. Lesson learned, "pay attention to the smaller print and do not rush". Aside from cost of gasket ( small ), a lot of stuff to disconnect/reconnect to get to sensor harness. One saving grace was the second time around, job was much quicker and almost enjoyable. LOL
