2006 4Runner changes

MP3 capability on the radio?? .....

That makes me happy --- as long as I can yank one out of an 06 and put it in my 05 .....

and a Mini-plug for external audio devices in center console ???

ARGH!!! --- should have waited a few months to get the 06 instead...

Just got my '05 4Runner last week.

Yeah, can't figure out why Toyota decided to keep the cassette player this late in the game.

I too wish the stock CD changer/radio had an aux input for whatever - iPod/MP3 player etc. Should be standard equipment by now.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda waited, but my old truck was telling me it was time to replace it.:sadwave: wa$ at the point of dimini$hing return$ for repair cost$.

While I'm very happy with the decision and the vehicle I'll be getting I do kind of want "some" of the features in the 2006 model. I like the exterior of the '05 models better so far but the interior changes would be nice.

HA!! I'm right there with both of you guys. I took delivery of my '05 LTD V8 6 weeks ago. I debated and debated about waiting for the '06. While I'm glad I got it now, it would be nice to have the LED tails and projector headlights and 18" wheels and a couple of the interior upgrades, I'm not going to kick myself over my decision not to wait. Maybe we will be able to retro fit some of those upgrades if we feel the need. I still love my truck, just wish it didn't put out such a stink!

I feel lucky i have one of the very first vehicles that Toyota put out. It was made delivered and sold in October of 02. I am missing many toys, but good thing is that i am used to it and still like my baby just the way it is.:

After studying the build sheets, it still appears that you cannot get the sunroof with the 3rd row seats. But hey, at least they're available on all the models now.

I like most of the changes to the '06 4Runner......good thing Toyota is not changing the HP or Torque as it appears they did on the new 06 Tundra. Anyone know why this was done? (It looks like the 05 V8 Tundra was 282 hp/325 Torque, and the 06 is listed as 271 hp and 313 Torque).

BTW, I was at my dealership couple of days ago and what I've seen... The sticker price for my Limited V6 was 49.350, now they have demo Sport Edition V6 for 50.800. That's 1.500 more then mine + mine is Limited which was 3.000 more then SE. So they just raise price for the demo for 4.500 and this is only one 4Runner on lot. I talked to salesman and he told me that all 2005 4Runners are booked up.

Wow, that's $42,432.34 converted to the American dollar and before taxes. For a V6 Sport that's pushing it way up there. No way could that thing sell at that price. I've seen a few V8 sports maxed out with options and it was closer to that but, wow.

OK can anyone tell me why Toyota would make this kind of improvement to the 4runner for 2006 and the big change to the 2006 Landcruiser is that they will now get the same VVTi engine that the 4runner got last year? Plus the Landcruiser will have the same body styling that it's had since 1998. Why would Toyota do this, no one would want to buy a LC, since it is just a little bigger but weighs close to 900 lbs more with worse mpg and costs $30K more MSRP. Toyota must be doing away with the LC??? Anyone know???

I heard some rumor that Toyota may discontinue the Land Cruiser after 2006 but I don't know how true they are. I test drove the Land Cruiser and that handled like a truck. The interior was beautiful, but it felt nothing like our 4Runner's on the road.

I also drove a new 2006 with the new air suspension and it did not drive as good as my 2004 SE. The steering on the 4runner is more direct and the 4runner feels faster and tighter. for the little bit more room and luxury plus the worse mpg and additional $30K in cost, I don't know how Toyota will sell the 1998 looking 2006 LC's??? I think the 100 series is a great vehicle but it needs to be bought used with the extended 100K Toyota warranty and at a big discount off what they are selling for new. I could see buying a two year old, 2004 with 25K miles for around $38K after the 2006's come out. But I don't know since the improvements that are being discussed on this thread for the 2006 4runner makes it even better looking and better equiped for $40K new and loaded. I think the LC is going to be going for a big change in 2007 since the Landcruiser name is too valuable to let it die.
