same here... my dad's prius has a smart key and if i ever drive his car it feels weird... one nice thing is you can just pull the door open if you ahve the key with you and the car is locked...

suck if you threw the key out the window while driving, if it was in the ignition the car would shut off first, but with set up, its a surprise when the runner would shut off.

I don't think that would be the case assuming the smart key system is like the ones in Lexus cars. According the reps during Taste of Lexus, the key fob needs to be inside the cabin to start the engine. Once the engine is started, you can exit and leave the car with the fob and it'll continue to run.
