I really don't do much towing or off roading, our family will extend from 2 to 3 this January, but we do take road trip twice a year with family memebers, this last summer i used my Camry for a road trip to the west coat from TX, so a little more space is nice, i have been on Acadia forums too, seems like the first 2007 Acadia had so many problems more electrical problems then anything else but people are complaining about gas mileage on the Acadia and resell value just drops after three years which kind of scares me.

If you don't tow or go offroad, then I would not buy a body-on-frame SUV. With only three of you, I really would not recommend a full-size SUV or cross-over. The Acadia is an awfully large vehicle to drive around every day if you don't need the space -- it is the size of a Tahoe/Yukon. Put a travel box on top of your car for the one or two road trips you take per year.
I would recommend that you look at mid-size crossovers, like the Highlander. If you don't need three rows, consider the Ford Edge. In a slightly smaller vehicle, consider the Mazda5 - still three rows, but good fuel economy and car-like handling.

I was at the dealership today and asked the Sales Manager about it. He said he could get one possibly out of region. I'm in the DFW area also so PM me for more info and his phone number.I'm not sure of price but would probably be more to have it trucked here.

The Mazda CX-9 might be a good choice also. Size wise it looks to be between the 4Runner and the Acadia.

Thanks for the link. All the local Runners I'm looking at tomorrow are not 3rd row equipped as far as I can tell from the net inventory.

The third row storage is much better than it was in the 4th. I wish Toyota simplified it a bit more, such as pulling the strap will drop the headrest down and stow away the seat cushion.

Have you considered rear seat entertainment? If so, the 4Runner no longer offers that. Also, sounds like you might need running boards. Running boards are not an option here in the U.S., but you can have them installed later.
Here's my opinion. The Acadia is large and will definitely accomodate your family. And because you said you keep cars for at least 8 years, I don't think you need to worry about resale value. You are probably safe with buying the Acadia. However, from a reliability standpoint, I would put money on it that you will have more issues with the Acadia over 8 years than you would with the 4Runner. Also, the Acadia will lose its "fun factor" over time. What do I mean by that? Do you know how a car feels when it's brand new? The 4Runner will hold onto this "feel" longer than the Acadia. Just my opinion.
Just went to my local dealer in SW West Virginia to test drive a 4runner. Of the 5 4Runners on the lot, there wasn't a single 3rd row seating model. The dealer said they don't expect 3rd row seating for 6~9 months, which is very disappointing.
Has anyone outside of the California area gotten 3rd row seating? I really think I want 3rd row. After the drive I'm sold on the 4Runner over the highlander (even though it has significantly less room), but 3rd row is a must if this is going to be the family ride.

I totally agree, but decided to go with the 4Runner, I test drove the Acadia and the 4Runner several times, and i feel more comfortable in the 4Runner, my wife thinks it's all in my head ..... LOL fun factor is important when keeping a car that long, but still can not find my third row seat in TX.
Can not find it anywhere in TX, I think NM has a couple but am still looking.

If I were to buy a 2010 T4R I would want the 3rd row seating as well. As for size, I was also seriously looking at the Arcadia because I wanted something bigger.
Now compared to my 97 T4R the new 4Runner has definitely increased cargo space so I don't see the need to look into the Arcadia anymore. And I would rather buy Toyota over GMC anytime.

Plus, longitudinal 4WD > transverse 4WD... and the Acadia has the "GM aero front dam" which gives it less ground clearance than a Subaru Outback.

Let's go back and take a look at this previous post for a moment. Alrodan says that he's looking for a SR5 2WD. That could be part of the reason for the limited supply. He's looking for a 2WD vs. a 4WD, which I would think would constitute a very small portion of the inventory that Toyota as built and is currently available. If you factor in that he's looking for one with a third row seat, you now have really small numbers to pick from. I know when I purchased my 2010 SR5 4WD w/ 3rd row a few weeks ago, my dealer was able to find a few in the mid-atlantic region, but these were all 4WD, not 2WD. In fact my dealer had one on a truck from Toyota (which I took) and one coming in at the end of the August (which is still sitting on the lot today.) My guess is those delivery dates are correct for a 2WD. BTW, the price you listed was about what I paid for a 4WD.
