Interestingly it says the GX 3rd row will now be fold flat like an Expedition, so I presume the 4Runner would get this too on models equipped with the 3rd row??

IIRC, the 1st gen GX went into production in November of 2002, a couple months after production had already begun on the 4th gen T4R. So if history repeats itself then the 5th gen T4R should begin production in August or September of '09.

Hmmm,,. Fold flat seats sound like they may be redesigning from live rear axle to IRS. If that is true I will be in the market for a 2009 4Runner while still available.

Fold flat? I never got around my Lexus dealer lately to check if that really pushed through because as Gromulus mentioned that means redesigning the rear axle and arranging things around (like spare tire) because as my GX goes, there's no space underneath to fold the seats flat lol..


I love how the fold flat seats from the 1995-1998 Honda Odyssey became a big hit (hence makes me still proud to have a 1997 Honda Odyssey in the garage lol)
