I am still having the problem with the ECO light. I am sure it was turned on and I drove it very slow with gentle acceleration, the green light never comes on! I overtrusted the quality of 'made in Japan' !!!

Did you turn the light off? If you press the button on the odometer, you should come to a screen which says Eco On. If it says Eco Off, then the Eco light will not turn on. To turn it back on again, press and hold the button on the odometer.
You obviously have it turned off. Sounds like this is your first 4X4?? Here is a series of button pushing for you to do.
Get in your truck and turn the ignition switch to the on position (no need to start)
push the button by the odometer once, odometer miles will come up
push button again, tripA comes up
push again, tripB comes up
push again and an AVG MPG will come up (AVG 20.1)
push again and ECO will come up either on or off
When it is in this mode, pushing the same button and holding it in will turn it on or off, I assume you want it on
continue pushing the button will navigate you back thru the same menu. When it gets to the AVG with an mpg figure, leave it there and you will be able to see while driving what your mpg average is. Note that when you push the accelerator more than about 1/2" the top black indicators will go all black and the ECO green lite will go off. Also, the ECO lite will stay off in 4X4, manual, and when you exceed 80MPH or so. Hope this solves your problem

Do you have the shift in "manual" (I forget Toyota's name for this) mode? I believe the eco light goes off in this position.
I think that on the 4runner the eco light does nothing, it is only for information purposes. This is unlike other cars (I was just driving in my sister's Equinox) in which eco mode actually changes the shift pattern and maybe accelerator response.
There is no reason that eco mode could not also monitor the RPMs in "manual" mode, maybe others know the reason why Toyota turns it off.

Thanks for the replys. I did turn the eco light on. It showed as"ECO ON". The sales drove it in the parking lot and the light was flashing. After that, It never turned on. I know the lite may not mean anything but just feel bad that something not work properly from the new car. What is the manual mode? Does SR5 have manual mode?

Yes when you are in drive smack your shifter to the left....manual shifting now.

That means you were probably driving around the whole time in 4th gear since that is what gear "manual" reverts to.THAT is in the owners manual!
First driving in 4L with a part time system all the time then this.It sounds like you really need to sit down and read the manual and learn your truck!Ask questions about what you don't understand in the manual.

Maybe my questions sound sily to you. Sorry abut that. I did read the manual and it is NOT clear about either part time 4WD or manual mode/eco mode.

NO IT IS NOT!!! You must have noticed the truck was not shifting into 5th??
Why not take it to the dealer and sit down and ask a service manager to go thru the basics of operation. Sounds like you really need to learn this

It would be OK to leave it in S4 without doing any damage per se. The only stipulation is that it would never shift above 4th gear. So if you were on the highway, for example, the engine would be revving faster than it really should be.
FWIW when off road I use S mode exclusively. Works pretty well

English is clearly not love_4Runners first language. Instead of making him feel stupid, how about we suggest he either find a manual in his language or a bi-lingual technician?
Mike, you're right. Its just that some REALLY DUMB posts are anoying and the comment about "made in Japan"???
It never dawned on me that he may not speak english though? Regardless, he needs to get to the dealer where he bought this truck and sit down and learn the BASICS

Perhaps because going 85 plus in an SUV isn't particularly economical, nor ecologically sound in regards to fuel burn. I'm not a doctor though.
