2011 to get V8 or is this wrong info You Decide

I was reading this and if you look closely it says that one of the engine options is a V8. If true I am glad I waited till 2011

I skimeed it, it says nothing about a V-8 option. It compares it to the V8 and says it has more HP blah blah and says the 2011 will come with a 4 cyl and 6yl engine.

Engine choices are now a four-cylinder and a V-6 rather than a V-6 and a V-8.

Sorry, I'm also not seeing a reference in this article to a V8 in 2011 or 2012 or 2016 when the new one arrives.

I asked a Toyota product person last week about a V8 in the 4Runner for 2012 and, while you can't always trust what they say, the word was "not that we know of."

Nailed it. however I got my hopes up for either a 4.6L or that 5.7L V-8. guess I'll keep on dreaming

V8 > V6 in every way except gas mileage which is not really that big of a difference.

Eventually you will see a V8 in a 5th gen but not next year.

V8 is great for towing and a little better pull on the hwy but off road there's no diff.

I really don't see Toyota dropping a V8 in anytime soon. I think that's one of the few things the 5th Gen needs to be a very solid vehicle.

That's too bad. For a vehicle of this weight, it's nice to have a v8 option. The v8 doesn't have to work a hard and is simply a smoother engine

Hopefully, when the 4Runner gets a V8, it will also have a 7K tow capacity.

V8 is great for towing .

Could not agree more. My V8 always performs very well when towing.

The V8 also performs well when one pulls Heavy Duty, 4WD Pickups out of the mud at car shows. :biggrin2:
