Several of us here do try to help others if they want help. Complainers and whiners, just like in the real world, serve no useful purpose and are mostly ignored. Let me ask you...what would be the proper thing to do in this case, in your opinion. Give him a pep talk and tell him to cheer up about his bad purchase? This is a forum for 4runners enthusiast, not a forum for moral support, lol.

You kind of have to admit, this is pretty much just a free-for-all share how you really feel type thread. Of course peoples opinions will clash, but is anyone really wrong for saying how they feel?

Believe it or not, more often than not many are (me included). Then again, so what, it's just a forum. This place is actually tame compared to other places.

I had a 2008 LE V8 and now have the 2013 LE, I agree at first the inside doesn't my seem as polished and the door sides do feel thin. However, the new rig is actually heavier and will grow on you. The V6 seemed really doggy at first but then after driving like an ass for awhile, my has petal got used to me and my rig is quick and responsive around town and otherwise. The mileage improvement is worth the difference in torque and I rarely tow much. My heat is just great. At first I had trouble keeping even temperature but it either got better or I got used to it. Also, the 5 years difference in the limited 4wd is substantial. The newer system works better IMO. I have tested my new rig in sand, ice and snow and I drive like an ass around town in constant rain. I have had mine for since march 2013 and have 19k on it and really like it overall. I also do not have running boards which is nice to not trip over. Now if given the choice between a new 2008 and a 2013. I would choose 13. Tough to say but mechanically I like it better even though there are a few shortcuts. (Tinny doors, less plush carpet, touch more plastic, cheap cargo cover)

I think the improved/updated 4WD, ATRAC, better nannies and more Nannie control plus better mileage (I can keep going) are why I like the newer version. No key is nice too.

You can always get a jeep. I had two Cherokees years ago ending in 2008 with my first toyota. (Had tried to buy "American")Noticed the other day I still had the Jeep service department in my phone contacts as well as the service manager's cell phone number. I can't name anyone at the Toyota service department. (Several cell phones later but transferred contacts FYI)

Nobody said you're wrong, but there's a time and place for everything. Standing at the sidelines instigating an argument and calling people names adds ZERO value to the discussion at hand. (Kind of like this post too, so I'm done after this )

Apparently getting picked last in gym class and playing sports with "No winners or losers" and getting "participation" medals really does affect people later in life.

Slam the door on any F-150 and watch it shudder - on both sides. EcoBoost is wonderfully brisk, yes, but it won't outlast the 4R's VVT-i, nor will it be as cheap to maintain.

The $50k Ford Raptor's doors ripple as well when you shut them.

So do the 5th gen 4runners, and current Highlanders, and probley every other toyota. Unfortunately most car manufactures are using thiner metal, and have this problem as well. Cost and weight savings.... It really bothers me too. I would rather have paid more money, and have the 4runner weight a little more to have sheet metal that doesn't ripple and bounce over every bump or door shut. But atleast our 4runners have a solid frame to sit on.
