2012 sr5 seat padding

I am taking my 4runner to an upholster to have the seat base padding re-worked / drastically improved. Riding for over 30 minutes is causing my sciatic nerve pain. I drove my wifes Morano on a rode trip over the weekend with no issues. Upholster guy looked at the padding in the seat and said, it sucks and I can expect much improvement. Has anyone else had the seats redone?

nope... but I agree these seats are tough on the sciatic after long periods of driving. Let me know how it goes. I was thinking of chopping up my tempurpedic pillows to refill the seat base

Let us know how it goes. What, specifically, are you doing? I've thought about having my seat cushions lengthened for more thigh support.

in short, I am going to flatten the seat base by adding padding to the bottom and better padding to the side. If you push on the base side flaps towards the rear, you will notice very little padding. I will take some before and after pics. Also having them add some carbon heating pads while they are messing with the seats.

by the way I consider myself to be average height/ weight 6'1" 195.

Subscribed! I would also love my seats to wrap around the sides more and could use a bit more length on the seat bottom.

I assume they will be recovering the entire seat, or are they attempting to re-use the covers with "beefed up" foam/padding? Mine are leather - so I'd hate to think I'd simply throw away the 5-month old leather and pay for all new leather covers in addition to the foam/padding cost...

I had the driver seat completed on Saturday. What a difference. put 1 inch high dense foam in the bottom. Huge impact. I will submit pictures later.

Edit: Pictures correctly oriented!

Well worth the $$$, It cost me $125 and while he had them apart he installed the seat heaters (i have to wire them). I am taking it in to have the other side done as well. Huge improvement over factory padding.:third:
