2012 Trail edition

Can't tell if it has KDSS, but if it did it'd have the multi-terrain selector.
QUOTE]

You sure about that? When I bought my TE, the KDSS was an "option". Multi-Terrain system was "standard".

But you are correct about the "packaging" i.e. Nav-Entunes, KDSS already being added at the factory. :peace:

How about a new take on this...

Answer: (wait for it)

I don't know, are you worthy of the newer Trail? Is it gonna have a good home? Be well used? Or is it going to be a daily driver never to see dirt? Or is it gonna be a soccer mom wagon / mall crawler?

Oh, I'll use it. I'm not a 4wheel drive fanatic but I do go off road enough to warrant a 4wd. Avid Mtn biker so I take trips all the time, camp/hike plenty and am trying to figure out if I want my two huskies in there or not. Joking, they will be coming along I'll just manage the hair a bit better. Fist thing I will probably do is get new tires, just put some duratracks on mine and love em. What size could I get away with for stock height?
Thanks for all the replies, I'm going to look at it in about 2min. Oh and the guy said its his wife's, he has a yeep and said he had 50k worth of vehicles tht he needs to move ASAP.

Stupid question, What is KDSS and can I live without it.

KDSS is Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System. It is a passive hydraulic sway bar mount that allows the mount to move, effectively reducing the amount of force the sway bar applies to counteract body lean. It almost (key word is almost) acts like a sway bar disconnect utilized by rock crawlers to gain more suspension articulation. My TE does not have KDSS and I'm fine without it. Those who have it claim it provides more stability on pavement as well as the added articulation off road.

To tell if it has KDSS you will have to crawl under the front end of the truck. If the sway bar attaches directly to the lower control arm rather than to a standard link and the bar looks real thick, it has KDSS.

The BIGGEST positive about this is that the seller has NO FREAKING IDEA what he/she has on the lot, esp if it has KDSS!!!!! So, i would act ignorant and go up and haggle the crap out of the seller to lower the price. Crawl underneath to check for KDSS and salt/rust/etc..

Needless to say, KDSS is a must-have and i am a big fan of it, esp if you're going to keep it mostly stock. It improves on-road ride & handling while providing additional wheel travel (thus stability) off-road.

No KDSS = your call. Personally, i would pass.

KDSS + lower price = if you're not going to get it, then i will!!! :biggrin2:

BTW, for the most part in Texas, KDSS is usually paired with Navigation. So, no NAVI = no KDSS in Texas...or at least, in my experience.

Whew, then the Trail gods approve your accention into Traildom. Thus it is willed, thus it should be.

OK.....

Just got done test driving, haggling....

Conclusion is I am going to think about it over night. I can seal the deal at 25K including my trade in. It needs tires and is missing one factory rack cross bar. He will replace the cross bar and get tires at cost for me if I decide to go for it.

Now, I couldn't tell if it had KDSS and he bought it for his wife from Hertz so no so sure about that. Also, he said that it had been reported as minor repair to front left fender but does not show on carfax. I can tell as the lines don't line up exactly on the fender to the hood. Drivers door has that hallow sound when closing where as the others sound fine.

It drives nice, very snappy but I'm sure thats due to me being used to driving mine.

Interior is very clean, does not have heated seats of climate, has all weather mats. Decisions....thoughts.

I paid around $36k new for mine. I will never get rid of it.

Bet you get rid or yours before me and mine. :guitar2: We check each other yearly at jambo.

(Disclaimer: unless wreck and totaling, then well self explanatory)

Going to pick it up today. Got it for 25k, had him put new DuraTraks and is replacing the crossbars on the factory roof rack.
Next will be tinting the DS & PS front window.......

Damn 25k!! Make sure it wasnt in an accident at some point.. just cause it wasn't on the Carfax doesn't mean it didn't happen.. and must be no kdss at that price.. OR you got a REALLY good deal.. I paid 33 for my 2011 in Jan w navi n kdss

170k is eventually going to come around to to a major repair.

My '02 LE has 298K. Religious routine maintenance (tune up, oil change, timing belt every 80K, grease & lube) and no "major" repairs for me ...unless you count the T-Bone that the 19-year-old did to me in '09.
