2013 4runner thump

I'm about to have my 10k service... this problem has gotten increasingly worse recently, to the point of feeling like the vehicle moves a bit when the clunk happens.

Not sure what years the TSB apply to but hopefully my new dealership here will be able to take care of this.

Mine kind of makes a noise that's a combination of a clunk and a click--when I park it. Doesn't sound like it's coming from the rear but rather right at the transmission--possibly the front differential. Anyone else have this occurring?

Bottom line...I have had GM 4x4's and have never had anything close to this problem. I bought the 4runner because it's supposed to be vastly superior. I'm beginning to wonder.

I dropped my 2011 at the stealership earlier and luckily there was a mechanic there that heard my issue. The service advisor was clueless. They called me back 3 hours later and told me they would be replacing the driveshaft under the TSB. Hopefully when I pick it up tomorrow, the noise will be gone.

FYI, I went to Russell Toyota in Catonsville.

Sorry to hear. I have never owned an American vehicle but have nothing bad to say about the vehicles I have owned. Starting from a 92 Integra, 98 Montero Sport, 03 BMW 330Ci, 04 Sequoia, 08 Altima, 10 A5, and now the Runner. Have you tried another dealership? Maybe I was lucky with Russel Toyota?

You just need to get on the line with someone who knows their stuff and wants to help. Probably a simple fix/tweak. I drove a brand new 2011 Sierra and that thing was jerky and thumpy. Not so much with the Jeep especially the GC. No issues with my 4Runner but do get some slight slippage/thump... But understand this is normal and better for the system. Doesn't seem to be what you are describing though.

Thump problem

The dealer has been very helpful, but corporate won't let them do any sort of part replacement as they consider the thump normal. The dealer even told me to continue to complain to Toyota but to no avail.

Dealer attempted to re-create the thump over 3 miles and were unable to duplicate it... noted it in the vehicle history along with the driver seat wear at my 10k service.

This simply is not so. Read the TSB posted here:

... the very wording exactly describes the problem. Print it out and take it in. My problem was solved, and has not returned.

Sounds like they're just kicking the can down the road. I would definitely complain to Toyota corporate at this point...about how the dealer is providing you with crappy service, lol.

I have a couple problems.

1. My 4Runner is a 2013 which is not covered in the TSB

2. They were unable to duplicate the problem, and I didn't experience it for the rest of the day, but as I told the service employee it has started happening more frequently and sometimes several times in a day.

It may or may not be an issue long term but it's annoying. I also am not prepared to take everything apart and grease it all every 3-5k...
