Being this is my first post here i wanted to start out by giving a HUGE amount of thanks and appreciation for all who contribute to this site. I decided it was time to upgrade from my 04 Sport to a new 5th gen runner. To say i did alot of research and reading about everything would be a huge understatement. I flip flopped between the SR5 loaded up and the TE...i went with the TE. Scheduled to be in port 9/6/12 and hopefully in my driveway a week or two after that. I bought a '13 TE in magnetic grey with KDSS and nav/entune. I just wanted to offer up my advice if anyone has any questions about the new ones due to the fact that i left no stone unturned during this process. Once again thanks for all your posts and advice so far...it has helped greatly!

:welcome: and congrats on the new ride

Seems just a few days ago there was no info to be found anywhere concerning the 2013 4Runner. Today we have one scheduled to be delivered next week. :confused: :shrug:

Dumb question but...you sure it's a '13

Not a dumb question at all... its def a '13... i have the build sheet and vin #... the truck was built 8/1/12... i actually work for a dealer group and we own 2 toyota dealerships so im 100% sure its accurate. It doesn't appear as if any changes were made to the '13s either. The order sheet reads almost word for word to that of a '12... so if they made any changes at all it will be a surprise.
 
It pretty much will be oct. like normal. I know mine is scheduled to be in port 9/6... usual lead time from there to dealer is 1-2 weeks , so that puts it on the lot in the second to third week of september. Before i decided to get TE we had an SR5 scheduled to be built 8/22 with est. port delivery of 9/28 which would have def been oct. delivery. On a side note, i cant speak of when the LE may first become available because i was only looking at the SR5 and TE

Yeah when I bought my '11 last October there wasn't a '12 in the country. Matter of fact they didn't show up (at least around here) till late December.

But if the man says it's a '13 then it's a '13!
 
i dont know if its a switch or lever, other than the toyota press release talking about it in the SR5 grade...guess i'll be surprised....thought id include a pic of the vehicle inquiry to confirm it is a '13

Just ordered my 2013 Black TE with KDSS and Nav. It is scheduled to arrive in the Port of Portland on 9-19. I should be able to pick I up within 1-2weeks after that.

Can't wait!!!! I already have Icon CO's, LR UCA's, OME 898's, OME rear shocks, and Metal Tech rear lower control arms.
 
Interesting news about the ship carrying your precious cargo:

"A cargo ship where a man was found in the captain's private quarters hours after scaling a fence topped with barbed wire had an inadequate security plan, the Coast Guard said Thursday. Authorities said Eric Carrero, 20, of Yonkers, N.Y., scaled a fence separating a parking lot from a secure area Wednesday (August 29, 2012) morning. He was spotted in the area around the Andromeda Leader, a cargo ship unloading its wares, and boarded the vessel through an entrance near its cargo hold. Despite not wearing a federal transportation worker ID badge (required for all employees in the area). Carrero, who officials said is mentally disturbed, did not arouse suspicion until the ship's captain saw Carrero in his room and called authorities. Carrero was charged with unlicensed entry of a structure and is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, authorities said. A home phone number for him could not be found."

Must've been a T4R member trying to get the scoop on changes to the 2013 model. :lmao:
 
WOW.... thats crazy...im glad my truck was off that ship already...i had a new vehicle inquiry report ran yesterday and its already been changed to transport....which means i will have my Runner in possibly 1 week...2 at the most.... to say im excited is a HUGE understatement

I'm jealous. I have to wait another month for mine. I was not even expecting to order one. I went into the dealer to ask if they had any incentives for the '12 TE's. The nearest one to my liking was in Redding, CA, 400 miles away. The salesman said they would not be able to do any incentives anyway. He went in to the "boss" and came back with the invoice for this TE, exactly what I wanted.

Once it gets in, they are going to send it out to have heated seats installed (had to please the wife).

That's awesome man. Welcome to T4R, we look forward to your "review" of the 13. After over 2 yrs of ownership, and 35k miles, I'm extremely pleased with mine and I know you'll love yours.

You may have already noticed in reading our forums that we have a great group of regular contributors here, so if you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
 
Thank you! Believe me, i fully plan on knowing my truck inside and out pretty quickly. Being i love my 04 Sport so much ill be very critical of my new Trail. As soon as i get her ill post a pic and be happy to answer any questions about it... This site was awesome in helping me make my decision on the TE and ill be sure to pay it forward!

I too am looking to the 2013 TE 4Runner with KDSS and Nav. I would like it in Shoreline blue. What are your first (and continuing) impressions with it?

Is the Nav and KDSS worth the cost? The 2013's are just starting to show up, and some dealers are unwilling to "order", but are pushing the inventory they have instead.

The way I was able to tell them apart is the 4WD selection. On the 2012 it is the shift lever. On the 2013 it uses a selector knob. You can see it on the Toyota 2013 ebrochure (page 11) or in the photo gallery - interior picture 4.

I'm also interested in the KDSS being worth the cost, don't care about NAV. I see many posts here raving about the KDSS. I've watched some video explaining it and how it works. I guess a related question to it would be is it reliable or does it cause repair issues keeping it working? I do like the added stability factor of having it tho. But never having had it on any vehicle previously, just makes me wonder the value of the extra cost in getting it. Also, curious as to what the fluid is inside the pipes?
