Hi. Does anyone have any experience with a 2013 4R Limited with the JBL Nav with Siri? BT connects fine and Siri responds to my command such as "Call xyz Mobile"... The display shows the call starting and then it immediately says "disconnected".

Hi boneill,

First, try driving to an area where you have 100% signal strength, and test it again. If that doesn't solve the problem, try this. Still with 100% sig strength on the cell phone, restart the truck.

Wait for the "BT icon" to appear on the TS. Now hit the Phone Button on the dash, you should see "Refresh phone book" on the touch screen. Hit that refresh button.

That's it! Let us know how you made out; there are certainly ppl here that are more qualified than myself to help you get it straightened out, should there be anything further.

rigtec, best regards!

Rigtec,

I'll give that a try, but not sure that's the issue. I may not have described it clearly enough. Siri is using the contact list off of the phone and using the truck as the audio device (no different than a bluetooth headset). Siri starts to dial it, but then the call disconnects.

do you have to use Siri to voice dial? I use toyotas voice dial. hit the talk button and say call xxxxxxx then it goes thru.

If I hold the button on the phone Siri comes up and I can use it through the Bluetooth system (everything comes out over the speakers). I've never tried to access Siri through the OEM buttons. I have a 2010 w/ JBL and iPhone 5.

No boneill,

What you said was fine; exactly how my 2012 limited Nav BT was behaving when I first got it home. It seemed to take a few efforts to get it "linked" properly with my "Android" cell; very temperamental system so it would seem. But once I got myself use to the way the truck's navigation system (bus topology) worked, then it was just fine, and has been ever since!

If you hold the button on the phone and tell Siri to call one of your contracts- like "Call Kris Mobile", does it work?

Ok. I'll try it again. Thanks for the advice.

Umm,

Is it safe to assume that you ARE using the "Talk Button" on the steering wheel? Hope so. If not, press-n-Hold the talk button on the sw and wait for the "beep". Let it go and say, "call xyz". The stupid woman in the dashboard SHOULD say...xyz, dialing.

If it starts to dial, then the drops the call, then most likely, that's a signal issue, in which case you should change your location. If she says:"that contact name does not exist", and you know that it does exist, make sure that you're calling that contact name "Exactly" as it appears in your phone book e.g., Bob's job.

If you have called out the contact exactly as it appears, then hit the phone button on the nav trim panel. Hit "Refresh phone book", and when it's finished, make the call again; that should do it.

Good Luck, Greg (rigtec)

This is not how the JBL / NAV Voice works. I wish it were like this- that's why I was trying Siri as a workaround.

Below is how it works. This is based on experience, the dealer and as well as reading the manual. This is cut and pasted from the manual (http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omnav/OM35A79U/pdf/05.pdf) Page 136.

I appreciate everyone's help as currently the process is very slow and frustrating. It takes about 60 seconds to dial by voice.

You: Push the talk switch.
System: “After the beep, please say a
command.” “Such as “Go
Home”, “Destination”,
“Phone”,
“Audio” or “Command List”.”

You: “Phone.”
System: “Phone.”
“Say a command.” “Such as
“Dial by Number”, “Dial by
Name”, “Redial”,
“Call Back” or “Connect
Phone”.”

You: “Dial by Name.”
System: “Dial by Name.” “Say a name
from your contact list.”
“(beep)”
You: “MIKE.”
System: “MIKE.” “Say the type of
number.” “Such as
“Mobile”, “Home”,
“Work” or “Other”.”
“(beep)”
You: “Home.”
System: “MIKE.” “Home.”
“Push the off−hook switch to
dial or say “Dial”.”

You: “Dial.”
System: “Dial.”

DAM! "Hope there's never an emergency!!!"

Toyota Customer care confirmed that Siri is not compatible. Just wanted to let everyone know. I suggested they write it down somewhere.

:redbrick:

1. Enable the quick prompts. It won't talk, just beep.
2. You can skip menus. Press button "dial by name". No need to say "phone" first
3. Press the talk button to get the beep at anytime. You can interrupt it!

Its slow but it does work better using these hints.
