What i do wonder however...how is it Austrailia & Africa can have a BOF platform to bounce around in the open country, yet the USA, which has almost as much of that same environment, keeps loosing these vehicles yr after yr. With the FJ now at end-of-life, the continued whisper that the GX will be gone soon, and our beloved T4R is next at some point down the road.

Australia's land mass is about 1/5 smaller than the U. S., but most of that countries habitable land is around the outer edge. I may stand corrected on the "habitable" part, but proportionately speaking, Australian people have loads more rough country to bounce around in.

Africa has 3X the land mass of the U. S. and gobs of it are indeed rough country.

I also wonder if their legislators are less concerned about the C.A.F.E standards our legislators have created?

I hope the other manufacturers that switched to unibody designs regret it! Sucks to see so many companies turn their former SUVs into generic station wagons. Becoming even harder to even tell them apart. Nissan has been threatening to drop the only other body on frame - Xterra. The Pathfinder has already been castrasted.

Hope the strong 4R sales will convince Toyota to keep it as a capable truck based SUV!!

Even though I was never a Pathfinder fan, I was so disappointed when I first started seeing the commercials for the redesign as a unibody crossover.

As far as 4runner sales, it's great to see it doing so well. This gives hope for a 6th gen in 2017 or thereabouts. While the front end on each model is polarizing, there is little doubt that the interior refresh (and massive upgrade, let's be honest), seems to have done wonders to reinvigorate this generation.

I recall test driving an '11 limited and was so unimpressed as compared to my '05 Limited which had soft touch materials everywhere.
