Does anyone know the current money factor and residual for a 2014 SR5 AWD? If not would you mind sharing your model trim and payment? Thanks in advance.

Why would you lease a freaking 4runner out of all cars!!!!!!???

you can probablly buy it and sell it in 3 years and still be better off than leasing.

These trucks hold their value well and if you decided to keep it (since they last for ever) you already have a one up.

I am exploring all my options and am trying to gather all information. Buying is certainly an option.

There's all kinds of reasons to lease - which isn't for everyone, for sure. But, if you've looked after your leased 4R, you might even buy it at the end of your lease and sell it on open market for more than the residual (cause they hold value so well), netting some down payment cash to buy/lease the most recent one, which you'll want 'cause it'll have that cool new diesel....:eyebrows:

I don't know about in the US but most of the time up here the lease rate is lower than the finance rate. We leased our last vehicle the 09 Tacoma and our 4runner is leased. At the time the purchase finance rate was 4.9% while the lease rate was 2.9%. There is limitations, but I have no intentions of modifying my 4runner.

I briefly investigated leasing and realized the residual value was significantly less than used vehicles were selling for. Dealer said the residual value was set by Toyota, can't be changed. Not sure if I believe that, but we were too far apart for me to even try. One of the attractions of the 4Runner is its resale value, by leasing you give up much of that. Go search 3 year old 4 Runners (or whatever lease term you were looking for) and compare prices to the residual value being offered by the dealer. That will make the decision much easier.

Leasing results in a couple hundred less per month in a payment. So you can get into "more" vehicle than you might afford if you purchased. HOWEVER, you aren't paying down the principal nearly as fast as you would if purchasing. So at the end of three years you will have far more "equity" into the T4R than you would leasing.

To me, leasing only makes sense on cars like high-end and fast depreciating vehicles (i.e. Audi, Merc, BMW) where you would lose your rear on those first 2-3 years of depreciation and can turn in the car when your done even if it's value is way less than you "owe." If you're looking to buy the car at the end of a lease, products like Toyota are a safe bet however. Just depends on what you want to do.

I would lease a vehicle that I only plan on having for a little while. Something like a Mazda3 for work or commuting. Leasing a vehicle that is meant to last forever makes no sense to me. Buy it and be happy. If you sell it in 2 years, or you keep it to 300k you will be satisfied with the results.

IMO a lease is a total waste of money.

Not if you can write it off as a business expense. Not if you change vehicles every 3 to four years. Not if you get a lower lease rate than finance and buy it out at the end of the term.

normally we lease the warden tacoma's since she usually like to change them every 3-4 years and barely puts 6k per year on them. this time we bought it, but she is already looking to replace it with a blue ribbon tacoma with better package/options than she has now.

its her fault really since she saw the TX TRD OR she fell in love and i couldnt sway her otherwise. i wanted to wait and get a sport trd with the jbl/entune system but she didnt care at the time, but after a year she hates the stereo.

next time she said, she will defer to my selection since i was more concerned with the inside than just the looks cause i know her wants in a vehicle better than her.

:)

You can expense a purchased car as well. Not in the same way, but its not a total loss to purchase if you own a business.
