Good lord, that shit is ugly. Are they fitting 100mmish wide rubber now? They look like they have Honda Civic space saver spares fitted on all 4 wheels.
 
Better for mileage and acceleration. That's a few of the reasons I got my 255/80/17 km2's. Plus, who cares about the tire width when you throw different wheels and/or tires on there

Looking at the picture again of what appears to be a TE....it has the standard SR5 roof rack without crossbars-could it be a 'sport' edition SR5? I don't think the TE would be way off of that mark, but just a thought. Remember the Sport package from the Tacomas.
 
I don't understand what they're trying to get at with these design choices. I hope it looks better in person, because poor looks could deter a lot of potential buyers ala the fj cruiser. Hope this gen is still a success

Overall I don't think they're that different. Certainly the trail is intended to stand out, but your average joe won't see much of a difference between that new Limited in the picture and the old one. The sheet metal is all the same, this other stuff is just tinsel IMO.
 
Definitely not a fan of the new look at this point in time. The double chrome bars on the front are just too much.

I am assuming from this (from Toyota) that the SR5 & Trail Ed will share the same front bumper cover, while the Limited gets an exclusive bumper cover (shown in this thread - white)

Well it's certainly an unmistakable new front end on the LE, that's for sure!
 
Too cool... Not a fan of either of those new looks, especially of all the chrome on the white. But Colemanfu I ran into you on your descent off Imogene and you told me about you happening upon this shoot. I was wanting to see your pics, thanks for posting up!

Yes, nothing says elegance like giant protruding fake chrome painted plastic.

I like most of the changes they made to the '14 exept for the cheap aftermarket looking tail lights. On the '14 Trail, the front gills really kill the look, and it would look much better if they were filled. On the White '14, that giant chrome strip kills the look. Really, all they need to do is make that chrome strip flush and color matched, and I think the '14 would look as good, if not better then the '10-'13.

Hopefully the horrible front redesign won't be the final nail in the 4runner's coffin.

You know now that you mention it, I wonder what that chrome strip is made out of? If it's cheaper faux chrome trim material imagine how dent prone it would be. And well any dent on a big piece of chrome like that is bound to be an eye sore!

What is your point? Every auto maker has some fake/plastic chrome, even luxury car makers. Automakers equate chrome with elegance. I THINK it looks fine. Notice I said "sort of". Doesn't look as aggressive as the trail which is also fine and targets who buys the Limited model. I believe people who want to buy the Limited want something more "elegant". Hey, I didn't make rules.......

Agree, the LED tail lights look "aftermarkety".

Point is: Toyota put in noticeable effort in a truck that is low volume. You gotta love that (EVEN if you hate how it looks)

Along the same line of thinking, how durable is the material as well... if it's chrome painted plastic, will it tarnish or look funky over time? That's a pretty big peice, and as you mentioned a dent may start to flake the chrome paint as well.
 
noticeable effort? seriously?

I wish the team behind the new Highlander and Avalon interiors were in charge of the 4Runner's exterior.
