2014 4Runner

Had time to kill before grabbing lunch so I drove through the dealership to see if they had any 2014's. None on the lot but they did have 2 in the back.

One was a black SR5 and it looked pretty good IMHO. Much better then in the photos. This one was already sold. The other was a white w/ black interior 4x4 Limited. I actually got out to take a quick look at this one. While I will admit it does look better in person, the front end is just too blingy for me. I love the headlights but all the chrome looks like one of those "grills" people wear. Not sure I really like the tail lights either. The 2010-13's suck too but due to the colors, the 2014 have that aftermarket look in my eyes. Reminds me of the whole altezza tail lights fad many years ago.

So...would I sell the 2011 to upgrade to a 2014? Hell no. Not worth it. I'll enjoy this one for a few years and hopefully the 6th Gen is kickass or I'll move on to something else if my vehicle needs change.

So, for anyone in the Mid-Atlantic region that wants a Trail Premium, you can't get one. I spoke to several dealers, and they're not offering them here yet. The option is also not available on Toyota's website when you put in a zipcode for that region. I'm pretty jealous of you west coasters right about now.

Yeah, I was pretty bummed about that too. I've been waiting since they first announced the '14s to trade in on a premium trail. So I find this to be very irritating. Any word on when they might be available? Or why that's the only trim that isn't available here?

Apparently it's the way Toyota is rolling them out. The only option right now is to order one, which takes up to 120 days. I'll likely do that after I test drive a non-premium Trail when they hit the lots later this month. No dealer has been able to tell me when the Trail Premiums will be allocated to the Mid-Atlantic. My guess is sometime around the end of the year, or early next year.

TEs have been hard to find in WV since the beginning. When I bought my '10 SR5 in St. Albans, they kept telling me that they hadn't had a single TE through their dealer 8 months after the 5th gen dropped. They *can* get the TE Premium, but they have to specially request it... and like you said, you'll have to wait a little bit.

I do like that front end on the Trails but not the Limiteds. The TEs would look sick when lifted with that front I feel. Can't wait to see...

Well OK! There it is! That's much better.

Now I'm wondering how expensive a conversion kit will be. Front clip, fenders, headlights, hood...might as well get the tail lights too. Probably not worth it unless I get into an accident.

Can someone with some photoshop skills look at the limited edition in black, and blackout the chrome in the front and sides, and maybe put a set of 2010-13 SR5 rims on it?!

So I was looking at the '14 Limiteds on cars.com to get the best idea of what has hanged visually. It looks like it has the nav unit of the standard one on the '13, the one that looked smaller and had the large buttons and black plastic frame around it. I didn't really like the look of that unit... Also I was curious if they had blind side assist now?

Love the look of the Trail but unsure about the black w/ red stitch seating...and I hate the 4WD shifter....have that in my 2011 now and can't stand it, would rather have the knob like the SR5 :(. Guess you can't have everything.

Can't have the cake and eat it too! ;)

From CarID.com ... Looks good. (Maybe not the lights) But I like the grill and wheels.

does sunroof affect resale value

Trying to decide on a base 2014 trail to keep the cost down. ($39615 msrp with kdss, running broad, nav, slider rear deck).

Does sunroof affect the resale value of the car? I know certain cars like M3 are worth more without sunroof because it is more stiff, rattle free, lighter and rare.

I have sunroof/glass on my sienna se and I never use it. It gets hot because it is glass top. I had a new 2003 4r v8, the sunroof rattled when it was opened and going over 50mph. The dealer said it was fine. They didn't find anything wrong.

I sure like the seats in the premium Trail I test drove better than the cloth. I agree with the sunroof, I hardly ever use mine either

Idk about resale being higher or not, but if I was in the market for a used car (or a new one for that matter), I would want one with few things that could go wrong. A sunroof poses to many potential issues for my blood, which is why I'm excited the base trail comes without one.

I talked to a local Houston dealer, and they mentioned that they have no idea when they would be getting a shipment of 4runners in. They know some in Texas have received a few, but they have no idea when they will be getting theirs. They also mentioned that according to Toyota, they should have had their 2014's delivered 3 weeks ago... They also didn't have any reading material or info about the different option packages/configurations that would be available for the 4runners coming to this area (for example, KDSS + entune, or just entune, or entune + KDSS + running boards).

have to admit, the led headlight kit they have is the most simple install i have ever seen to add DRL to headlights.

wonder the durability of those that just peel and stick though. they have a video of how they look and install, but i doubt the install is that simple.
