2014 4Runner

Hey 3X...well yes, they're actually both mine! I love the 2 doors so I got two. The gold one I got when I was in college and when the engine gave out I swapped in a 5.0 Ford V8. I know...a mistake which I might correct if it doesnt get sold. The red one is stock for now except for a ball joint/Land Cruiser coil lift.

The reason neither has moved in a long time is because I moved to London. Thats also the reason Ill be putting the gold one for sale, besides rarely being there to drive them. The red one Im not sure yet whether Ill leave there as a driver while Im in the states or have it shipped out to the UK.

In any case...if you wanna chat Ill be in town the 26. Im in 1401.

PS...that Firebird as you go into the lower level is also mine Thats coming to the UK for sure...

Wow, small world! Ive got a silver 2010 TE, it's stock for now because I'm in the process of launching a new biz and don't have funny money to play with. PM me when youre in town. That Firebird is sweet, I see it every day I leave for work.

Though I was a bit shocked by the update at first, I'm really starting to like it. I have a 2004 sport with 160,000 on it, so I'm not too far from my next vehicle.

Before seeing the 2014, I had my eyes set on a 2013 black trail edition. There were a few things about it that bugged me a bit though. The unpainted plastic never holds up well in the long run (turns light gray and shows extrusion marks), and the central part of the front bumper seemed to lack character. Also, the very squared off rear looked a bit odd. It was like a large burly Scottish man wearing a kilt with little chicken legs. This has all been addressed in the 2014.

The longer I look at the new front end, the less radical it appears. If anything, it just makes the 2013's feel dated, and my 2004 feel like ancient history.

It seems as though many of the car companies are going in a new direction with their styling lately. Whether it's for better or for worse, I think the 2014 4Runner will end up looking rather "classic" compared to some of the other vehicles that roll off the assembly line.

I look forward to seeing photos of the 2014 trail edition in a variety of other colors to see how the front end, and the rear end look. My other option would be a Ford Raptor -- which is badass in it's own right.

No. Go with the '13 black trail as originally planned. Then swap all those unpainted plastic parts with my SR5 and get the vehicle you Really want.

First time seeing this -- had no idea. I think it looks pretty good -- front end is a little more aggressive and extreme, but I like it. However, not enough to trade my '11 LE for it.

Not the refresh I was expecting but I still like it. Under the skin it still has real 4Runner DNA and that's what really matters. Still, I need to see it in the flesh before I make up my mind. I won't trade my '08 SR5 but I might trade my F150 ecoboost for one.

That brings me to another point. Sometimes less is more. In the case of Ford's ecoboost, it's packed with all kinds of tech stuff. That's great when it all works as it should. However, when it has problems, a lot of dealer techs have no idea what is going on or how to fix it. Toyota's 4.0 is reliable, proven, and (at least by now) dealer techs are more familiar with it so they can more accurately diagnose any issues.

Anyway, these refreshed 5th gens will look sweet modded. I can't wait to see them this fall. At least toyota didn't follow nissan's lead and eff it up like the pathfinder.

Did. I was the director of training out there for 2 years. I know own my own company although I'm still involved in training. Likewise! I believe I have seen your rig around town.

I guess I am of the minority opinion here, but the 2014 exterior looks absolutely heinous comparative to all former years, especially the front.

I'm really glad I pulled the trigger on a 2013. The only thing I would consider adopting from the 2014 would be the tail lights, and that's probably a stretch.

That is one of the reasons I went with my 2013 Blizzard Pearl SR5. I was also offered a good trade and knew it would be worth less next year and the price of the 2014 being higher... So I went with the 2013 which I like the styling of more. And I figured I would rather have the last of the "good looking ones" than one of the first "ugly" ones. Typically I do prefer the MCE vehicles over the pre-MCE models but not in this case. Plus I actually like all the chrome trim on my SR5.
