I agree, these "off road" tests are always weak. You could have driven a Highlander through most of that stuff. It was just muddy water! And their love of crawl control is comical. They always say how it allows the driver to focus on steering, and not have to worry about braking/accelerating. I'm sorry, if you can't steer and brake/accelerate at the same time you probably shouldn't be driving.

LED headlights?

I think the DRLs you see at the inner position of the headlights are your high beams as well...I doubt they are going to go through the trouble of making bi-xenon halogen projectors, lol.

The DRLs seem to be the type where they just under drive the high beam lamps at a lower voltage.

No, i remember reading one article listing the refresh updates and it mentioned LED lighting in the front end. This was pretty early on though and might have been specualtion.

Just curios as i dont see any......unless its incorporated in just the SR5.

I dont think the bulb will change. I think its halogen still.

Mapdash, you've got a good memory. The press release for the 2014 4Runner says all grades will feature LED lamps in their headlights and tail-lights.

Per the press release: "The headlamps have also changed from halogen to projector beam, with both the headlamps and redesigned rear combination lamps on all 4Runner grades now featuring LED lamps."

What does this mean exactly? Will the LED lamps in the headlights of a 2014 4Runner be used for the marker lights, turn signal lights, or low-beam projector headlights? In the teaser pics of the 2014 4Runner headlights, the inner-position light looks like it's a high-beam halogen bulb, but I can't tell if the marker light and turn signal light use an LED's or just regular bulbs. Toyota already puts LED headlights on the the Prius and various Lexus models, and now LED headlights are also going to be a standard feature on the lowly 2014 Corolla. It would really suck if the 2014 4Runner only gets LED marker lights or turn signal lights, while the 2014 Corolla gets LED low-beam headlights. Toyota made a big deal about the LED headlights in the press release for the 2014 Corolla, but barely mentioned the LED lamps in the press release for the 2014 4Runner. This leads me to believe that the 2014 4Runner will only get LED maker lights or turn signal lights.

I believe you - aerodynamics are huge for Formula 1 racing cars going 190 mph or for a lightweight and tiny car like Prius C. Here is an official from Toyota using the same words about the vortex on the Prius: Toyota Prius c Technical Presentation - Dave Lee w/ Q&A - YouTube

However for a brick like 4Runner weighting 4750 pounds, and going 80 mph, I'm skeptical. I could be wrong though.

The inner position of the headlight sure looks like a halogen to me too, and the turn signal also seems that way...if you look carefully you can see the orange incandescent bulb reflecting in the reflector bowl. My guess is at best a tiny strip of orange LED marker lights along the outer edge of the headlight housing. I feel like if it was getting LED projector low beams, Toyota would have made a huge stink about it, but I am also just a very skeptical person

Toyota push this? Push what ?. The official word from Toyota is this is a 5th Gen Refresh.Toyota Has not referred to this as the 6th Gen.

Nothing new, most other "premium" BOF SUVs don't offer low range anymore.

Honestly, I think that only trucks with manual T-case shifters ever go into low range.
